Fixed#29894.
We were using `is_active` to determine whether to show that column or
not. In case of deactivated table, on reactivating a user, `is_active`
will become true for that user, but we still don't want to show that
column and mess up our layout. Same would happen in the active users
table when a user was deactivated and the `is_active` would become
false. It is better to control the column to be shown on a per-table
basis and we introduced `display_last_active_column` to control that.

We've removed the pencil icon and renamed the button to `Change your
password`. We've also removed the `.small` and `.btn-link` classes.
We also changed the `Password` label to use the `.settings-field-label`
class, same as the other labels for settings.
We removed the pencil icon, `.btn-link` and `.small` classes.
We also changed the `Email` label to use the `.settings-field-label`
class, same as the other labels for settings.
We've removed the pencil icon and removed the `.small` class from the
button.
This setting button is being used in two places: Changing your personal
language and changing the org-wide language for emails. That is why
we have used the `Change the language` generic tooltip instead of
`Change your language` tooltip.
`.change_password_button` and `#pw_change_link` were unused.
I've not checked for any other unused classes in this page, only
the password field. This was noticed when trying to make a layout
change for the password field and the change was moved to a preparatory
commit for the same.
This enables the stream popover for spectators, by unhiding the triple
vertical dots button in the stream sidebar row.
In the spectators' version of the popover, we only show the
"Copy link to channel" option.

Now that the channel name in the left sidebar links to the topmost
topic, we add a new menu option that lets us copy the channel feed link
to the clipboard.

This commit reorganizes the channel actions popover to group related
actions together.
As noted by Alya Abbott in CZO, the logic behind the grouping is as
follows:
* The top section is things you might do as part of your workflow for
using Zulip.
* The second section is for managing the channel itself.
* "Change color" is kept independently in the last section because of
how the color picker takes over a big chunk of the menu when opened.
Fixes part of #30529.
Modified the `Select a channel below or change topic name.`
instruction in `move topics/move messages` modal.
It's not necessary and can be confusing when user does not
have permissions to change the channel and topic name.
1) On the `Move topic` modal, dropped the line
2) On the `Move messages` modal, replaced the
line with `Move messages to:`

This supports adding users to DM pills by simply typing
a user's name in the text input directly after a complete
dm pill. It only works for DM pills at the end of search
input.
Clicking the X button removes a user from its user pill
container, and if that user was the last user left in the
container, then the whole container is also removed.
Previously, search pill overflow was broken (sticking out of the
search box to the right) and now the search bar extends vertically to
allow pills to wrap when there are too many pills for one line.
There's still a bug when opening the search bar where the input
isn't selected. But I'm not worrying too much about that because
that text is about to be replaced with pills.
- Make more succinct; don't over-describe UI the user can't see yet.
- Remove links (there are help links in view descriptions now).
- Explain where topics come from.
Instead of showing ellipsis if the content of the tab switcher is
more than the width, we now allow it to take more width to show
full text.
If we don't have enough space to show the full text to show on
small screen sizes, we use ellipsis for overflowing text.
Increased sidebar width by 5px to accomodate full tab switcher
at both 14px and 16px font sizes.
This new section was added in ea2d92d934.
This bug caused settings in this section to not be disabled even when
the user lacked permissions to be able to change these settings.
Clicking on the name of a stream in the left sidebar
now navigates to the top topic in the left sidebar

Fixes#22113.
The search will only be visible when in the `more conversations`
view. Once we click `back to channels` and close the
`more conversations` view, the search will clear and the search
box will disappear.
We've chosen `pm_list_data.get_conversations` as the function
to which we will pass our search term. We could have technically
found the value of the filter element via JQuery in pm_list_data,
but pm_list_data does not handle any JQuery and we should keep
it that way.
`pm_list_data.get_list_info` also accepts the search_string so that
the info it returns in expanded view is accurate.
We've also added some code to `click_handlers` to make sure that
clicking the search input does not bring us into the DM narrow.
In a2ef1d7e93, we made changes so
that when you send a message, your view jumps to the conversation
where you sent it.
For some users it was an improvement, few reported that it
disrupts their workflows.
This prep commit adds a setting which will be used to allow users
to decide whether to automatically go to conversation where they
sent a message.
We clean up unnecessary nesting in this commit and replace one
usage of `#direct-messages-sticky-header` with
`#direct-messages-section-header`. Since `.direct-messages-container`
was being used along with `#direct-messages-sticky-header` at multiple
places, just removing the nesting would break those selectors. For those
selectors, they have been refactored to just look for
`#direct-messages-section-header` instead. `.direct-messages-container`
specific selectors still exist but they apply to both instances of
`.direct-messages-container`, the DM header and the DM list.
While the TODO comment we deleted in left_sidebar.css says we need to
rewrite both show more and show less button to grids; show more was
already a grid.
There have been some very slight changes in the actual size of the back
to channels row; those changes make the row more consistent with the
rest of the left sidebar rows in terms of sizing.
We've introduced a new class called `.hide-more-direct-messages-text`
that applies the same properties as the `span` selector used to. We are
using a class because of better performance when selecting, see
https://chat.zulip.org/#narrow/stream/6-frontend/topic/CSS.20selector.20performance/near/1845719
for more info on the why,
The `font-size` was moved inside the above class, so that when setting
the line-height of the anchor component, the `em` refers to the normal
font size and not the smaller font size for `back to channels`.
We've moved the link inside `.direct-messages-section-header` and most
of the grid properties are inherited from that element.

Clicking on remove button will not delete the row anymore. We will
add a strikethrough to the user pill and email text. `Remove` button
will change to `Add` on click to undo this action.
Re-adding a user explicitly should will not undo the soft remove on
their row. e.g If `Iago` was added as part of a group and crossed out.
Now, adding another group with Iago as part of it should not undo the
soft remove.
We maintain a seperate set of soft removed users, but we will not
remove those users from the main user list on clicking `Remove`.
That list can only be modified by actions with the input pills.
We will subtract the soft removed user ids from main user id list
when sending the request to add subscribers to the new channel.
I've not added extra puppetteer tests, since adding users was
not part of the existing tests.
Instead of displaying contextual options in the message buttons popover
based on the message type, we instead abstract the logic behind the

no purpose in the popover template, as we display the

Apart from the normal (collapsed) and full screen sizes, a new expanded
state with the same size as the maximum a normal compose box can stretch
to when full (40% of the screen height) is now available. Now a user can
expand the compose box without it covering the full screen with a click.
The vertical resize icon in the bottom right corner of the compose box
is rendered useless so has been removed.
All three states can be cycled through by clicking the compose resize
button in the order: collapsed -> 40% of the screen -> full screen. When
a message naturally causes the compose box in its normal state to expand
up to 40% of the screen, clicking the resize button will take it to full
screen state.

Since we don't want col_focus to be on the time column as we don't
track it in recent view, we simply mark it as an element user
cannot focus to avoid any confusion.
The elements which received focus didn't have tooltips attached to
them, thus when blur was triggered on `a`, the tooltip didn't hide
as it was not listening on it for the blur event.
We move the toolip to `a` elements so that when focus and blur
are triggered tippy is able to capture them.
The row of buttons is placed using CSS grid template areas so that
visually it is now inside the bottom edge of the textbox. The color of
the buttons row and individual buttons is changed to match the color of
the textbox. All textbox border / box shadow properties are now applied
to its parent instead which is extended under the buttons' row, so that
its border snuggly fits around the buttons row too.
Notable side effects:
- In dark mode the textbox in focused state now has a light border which
does not match the recipient input's current border which doesn't change
when focused. Likely, the recipient input should be updated to match the
textbox's border color.
- The dividers in the formatting buttons row are not vertically centered
now. This should be figured out soon.

styling for those suggestions will become more specific, and so
for now we'll keep those styles in search.css to be more clear

like this in the future somewhere else in the app, we can come
up with a generic styling then once we have a better idea of
what that will look like.

This fixes half of #23665. It shows all user pills when making
a group suggestions as the active new suggestion, but still
doesn't show user pills for the first parts of suggestion lines.
A bug was observed on Safari where the visibility policy switcher
popover was shrinking beyond the width of the policy switcher, hiding
a portion of the switcher component.
This was due to the presence of the `width: min-content` on the
popover for supporting dynamic popover menu sizing based on the content
of the menu items, in tandem with some issue in Safari since it worked
fine on other browsers.
This commit adds the `.popover-menu-label` class to the visibility
policy switcher's label to enforce `max-content` width on the label
element, which in turn fixes the popover shrinking issue on Safari.
We now right align recipient input (even at very narrow widths) and
banners to the textbox, and move the close button to the absolute top
right corner of the compose box, updating the icon to be slimmer, bigger
and purplish, and adding a background highlight on hover.
This involved refactoring the send control area width into a responsive
css variable, and simplifying the html structure of the compose box.

We use "prop-element" class only to handle save-discard widget
and not anywhere else, so there is no need to have this class
for elements that do not use save-discard widget.
This commit refactors code to handle realm authentication methods
in a better way. We remove the get_complete_data_for_subsection
function and instead let populate_data_for_request handle the
request data for authentication methods.
We also remove the "prop-element" class from each authentication

the list of those checkboxes represent a single field, i.e.
the realm_authentication_methods field received from the server
and the authentication_methods field sent to 'PATCH /realm'

This commit fixes the bug when updating
"Restrict email domains of new users?" setting by
adding data-setting-widget-type attribute to the select
element as get_input_element_value now expects every
element to have that attribute after 64c8262eaf.
Due to this change, we also need to update the code in
populate_data_for_request function to not send invalid
parameter in the request. This change resulted in some
refactoring which now helps in not passing in the
"disallow_disposable_email_addresses" and
"email_restricted_to_domains" when these fields are
not changed.
This commit fixes the bug when updating realm default
language setting by adding data-setting-widget-type
attribute to the relevant element with "prop-element"
class as get_input_element_value now expects every
element passed to it to have that attr after 64c8262eaf.
As a result we can now remove the code from
get_complete_data_for_subsection to handle realm
default language and just let get_input_element_value
handle it and it also helps in passing the parameter
unnecessary to request when the setting is not changed.

Earlier, the compose textarea and the preview (container) occupied the
same grid area, 1 at a time. Now, they are both children of a common div
which is assigned the same grid area. This allows adding more elements
to the same grid area in the future.
This is purely a code change and should have no visible effects.

We now use "settings-field-label" and "modal-field-label"
class on label elements in settings and modals respectively
to add the bottom margin which was previously done by
"dropdown-title" class as it is better to have more
generic names to use on label for all type of inputs.
This commit adds bottom margin to label elements of
different inputs by adding "modal-field-label" class
to the label elements. Some of them already have the
margin due to having dropdown-title class.
This commit adds bottom margin to label elements of
settings inputs in personal, organization, stream

"settings-field-label" class.
Most of the settings are dropdown settings, so the
label for them already had a margin as they use
"dropdown-title" class.
There is no need to have hr element below the "Field choices"

was too soon, and has a tooltip to show the maximum characters limit.

In spectator mode, the separators encapsulating the topic visibility
switcher wasn't being hidden since the `hidden-for-spectators` class
was being applied only to the `popover-menu-inner-list-item` element.
As a follow-up commit to c3e4358, this removes the additional
separator by shifting the `hidden-for-spectators` class to the
`popover-menu-outer-list-item` element instead, which is responsible
for showing the separators.
Fixes#29750.
- We introduced an argument called `custom_profile_field` similar to
`sub` and `group` in `check_property_changed` and
`populate_data_for_request`.
- We could've introduced `field` param in `get_input_element_value`,
but I've kept it clean since it didn't have any similar kind of data input.
The performance difference due to this should be negligible.
- Introduced a span that would be parent to all `field_data` params
since it is needed by the diff infrastructure.
- If there is no data to be changed, we display our success status
without sending the PATCH request since save changed button is
always enabled.

Change compose_reply_button tooltip logic to show the correct tooltip.
Earlier in organizations where DMs were disabled, a stale tooltip was
being displayed.
Earlier if the user hovered over the compose_reply_button when it was
disabled and switched to a stream in which it was enabled before waiting
for the tooltip delay, the next time the user hovers over the
compose_reply_button the stale disabled tooltip is displayed instead of
the enabled one.
This is fixed by checking if the compose_reply_button is enabled on the
fly while rendering the tooltip via instance.setContent().

Updates translated strings in web/ that do not need updates to any
tests. The majority of these strings are also unique to the file/
template that they are in. A few have overlap with one other file.
Some changes here update placeholders/variables in these strings to
no longer use stream so that all the translation updates for this
rename happen at the same time.
The exception to this are cases of "<z-stream>" placeholders in
these translated strings.

"Stream events" field in "Stream details" section uses hardcoded
link for "stream events" topic. This link breaks if the organization
language is set to something other than English and the "stream events"
topic has a translated name. The field also does not handle scenarios
where the organization switched languages and thus "stream events"
topic is in different languages depending on when the stream was created.
Additionaly, we are currently undergoing a major change to rename
"Streams" to "Channels" and as part of this change "stream events" will
be renamed to "channel events". We currently don't have a plan for
linking these together or moving messages to the new topic.
Keeping these points in mind, it is best to remove this field for now.
A confirmation toast is shown when a message is moved
using the "Move only this message" option. The toast
contains the link to the new location of the message.

We want to make it easier to find stream details such as creator,
creation date and stream id. The commit replaces the "Email address"

"Stream details", "Email address" is now a field in this section.
If the stream does not have a creator, we only show the stream creation
date in creation details.

This is a prep commit to add a .pill-label wrapper around .pill-value
and other flair text. This extra flexbox structure will help us

We also introduce a new class to target this pill. The intention is that
this will more descriptive than contextually styling .pill-container.

but now they are presented as pills. These pills are rendered
using the user_display_only_pill.hbs template.
To obtain the avatar of a user,
the small_avatar_url_for_person function is utilized.
The term 'subscriber' might be misleading as it doesn't accurately
reflect the purpose of the list, which simply contains all users

Previously, the sorting was broken due to

- On creating a stream, the user is redirected to the
"stream events" topic of the newly created stream.
- If this is the first time the user has created a stream,
an explanatory modal is shown.
test_hotspots.py is modified to account for the new addition
of the first_stream_created_banner.
stream_create.test.ts is also modified accordingly.
Fixes#29375.
When users needed to add a new task in the todo widget, they would type
it in the field at the top, but the task would be appended to the list,
showing up at the very bottom, which can seem unintuitive.
Now the `add-task-bar` is at the bottom of the list, so that when a new
task is added, it'll appear right where it was typed. The task field
would then shift lower.
Users can now name task lists by providing the task list title in the
`/todo` command on the same line. Example: `/todo School Work`. If no
title is provided by the user, "Task list" (which is also the
placeholder) is used as default.
The author of a task list can later edit / update the task list title
in the todo widget, just like the question in the poll widget.

This fixes the bug where on hovering / selecting an emoji picker search
results emoji, invariably its canonical name would show / be used, which
is not always the same as the matching alias. For example, searching for
"swe" would show the "sweeping" emoji, but its canonical name is "broom"
which can be a confusing search result for "swe".
This commit converts the radio buttons (for

Following ca9b1060b7, we allow the content of popover menu items to
control the width of the popover.
While using `white-space: nowrap` works, we should instead use the
`max-content` intrinsic sizing so that, if necessary, we can still
provide a `max-width` to the popover which would then force the popover
menu content to wrap.
We now always show the scrollbar in invite modal body if it is scrollable.
This avoids confusion and makes it clear that some options are out of view.

- The role filter is added to both active and deactivated user
list. The original plan was to introduce a multi select checkbox
dropdown for the roles, but since that component is not ready yet,
we will use the dropdown component for the first iteration.
- To accomodate multiple filters, we have used an approach
similar to the one in recent_view_ui.js where we use dropdown
callback function and on("input") event on text search to set the
filter value in memory. The predicate functions uses these filters.
- We have also changed the default message when there are no
users to show to reflect `filters` instead of `current filter`.
Adds a loading spinner to the message history overlay,

Previously, "This profile field is required." tooltip was visible on
all custom profile fields, including those that were not required.
This commit fixes that by targeting only the required fields.
There seem to be two different ways of making the unread
marker visible:
(1) `user-with-count` classname on the `user_sidebar_entry`
element, which is added on render and not modified after
render at all.
(2) `hide` classname, which is toggled on the `unread_count`
element in `update_unread_count_in_dom`.
This creates a bug where sometimes the buddy list doesn't
update when messages are marked unread. This actually
doesn't always happen, since if there was an unread marker
that was there on the original render (and then removed
and put back) it will display again.
This commit keeps the `hide` class and removes the
`user-with-count` strategy.
This commit introduces a theme switcher feature within the personal
menu popover. The implementation begins with the development of a
tab picker, which has the following features:
* Utilization of radio buttons to emulate the tab picker.
Radio input buttons provides the native way in HTML to select one
value out of a set.
* Support for both horizontal (default) and vertical orientations.
Vertical orientation can be achieved by appending the
`.tab-picker-vertical` class.
* Respects the `prefers-reduced-motion` option set by the user.
Disables the sliding tab animation to improve accessibility.
Additionally, the theme switcher component incorporates error handling
mechanisms. In the event of a server/network error, the tab slider
reverts to the previous theme option after a delay of 500ms. This
behavior visually communicates the occurrence of an error to the user,
improving the UX.

To achive this the `stream_header_colorblock` div was removed from
`dropdown_widget_with_stream_colorblock.hbs` template. this change made
the file name irelevenet so it was necessary to rename the file to
`dropdown_widget_wrapper.hbs`. After removing the html strcuture for
colorblock from templates the css for colorblock was also removed.
followed by the javascript which was used to add colorblock to the

this conversation in the tooltip.

Only affects zulipchat, by being based on the BILLING_ENABLED setting.
The restricted backends in this commit are
- AzureAD - restricted to Standard plan
- SAML - restricted to Plus plan, although it was already practically
restricted due to requiring server-side configuration to be done by us
This restriction is placed upon **enabling** a backend - so
organizations that already have a backend enabled, will continue to be
able to use it. This allows us to make exceptions and enable a backend
for an org manually via the shell, and to grandfather organizations into
keeping the backend they have been relying on.
This commit adds banner which is shown on successful stream
creation which contains a link to stream narrow. This banner
makes it more clear that stream was created successfully and
also makes it easy to navigate to the new stream.
Fixes#29171.
In the situation where the DMs are disabled in an organization, we
disable the new conversation button. But due to this, the tooltip
hinting towards the same, was also being disabled because it was
attached to a disabled element which does not fire any events.
This commit fixes this bug, by wrapping the new conversation button
inside a div, and attaching the tooltip to this wrapper instead.
This commit adds links to open group settings from "User groups" tab
of user profile. These links are not shown to guests as they cannot
view `#groups` urls.
Fixes#25214.
We no longer show the 'default' visibility policy in
the inbox view. 'Unmute', 'Follow', and "Mute' are
still shown.
For topics with 'default' visibility policy, it is
still possible to change the visibility policy via the
three-dot menu.
The motivation is not to have the default state so
prominently called out.
This change aids in differentiating between a normal user and a bot
account, furthur eliminating any confusion between them (a step forward,
considering how good LLM bots have become in impersonating a real user).

We now use "data-group-section" attribute to set the "key" for
toggler in right section of groups overlay.
This change is preparatory work for showing the section opened
in right side in the url hash as we would use the "key" value
in url hash as well and the existing "group_general_settings"
and "group_member_settings" toggler key values were too long to
be used in the url. We previously used toggler key value as
class name and then used that class as selector to show the
relevant section but we now use "data-group-setting" section
to avoid using common class names like "general" and "members".
The (1) delay in fetching the read receipts data from the api call to
`/json/messages/${message_id}/read_receipts`; followed by the execution
of the success callback function, and the (2) use of `.append()` to
render the modal and user list, together lead to duplication of the read
receipts modal and also the user list inside the read receipts menu.
This commit adds a check to set the read receipts menu contents only if
the read receipts modal for the selected message ID is open by the time
the network request is resolved.
In addition, this commit also uses the `on_shown` hook instead of the
`on_show` hook in the read receipts modal logic, to add a delay in the
calling of the read receipts API, which prevents the stacking of the
requests.
The read receipts option, resides under the triple-dot message actions
menu. This made the process of viewing the read receipts take up
multiple steps, even via a keyboard-driven workflow.
Via this commit, now while focused on any message in a message feed,
and pressing `Shift` + `V`, efficiently brings up the read receipts
for that message.

This commit adds a "copy link to profile" button in user_profile_modal.
Clicking on this button copies the user's profile link and displays a
"Copied!" tooltip.
Clicking on "View profile" option now dynamically generates a URL,
allowing the user profile modal to open. Upon closing the modal,
the URL is reverted back to one that was active before the modal

For spectators, the chunk of page_params that originates from
do_events_register isn’t assigned until ui_init.js. That means the
TypeScript type of page_params is mostly a lie during module load
time: reading a parameter too early silently results in undefined
rather than the declared type, with unpredictable results later on.
We want to make such an early read into an immediate runtime error,
for both users and spectators consistently, and pave the way for
runtime validation of the page_params type. As a second step, split
out the subset of fields that pertain to the entire realm.

This commit extracts the edited notice computation logic of
edited_in_left_col, edited_alongside_sender and edited_status_message
to a new function - set_edited_notice_locations and calls it right
after the method merge_message_groups.
This is a preparatory commit, and is done since theses three variables
were previously wrongly initialized in the beginning for live messages
received.
We also introduce a modified flag to decide whether to display the
edited notice or not. This is useful since now we are computing
the edited notice values even when messages are not edited, and
hence we show the notices only when the modified flag is true.
This commit adds a new option to the three-dot topic menu in the
left sidebar to mark all the messages of topic as unread, provided
the topic's messages are already read before choosing this option.
This is done with the help of bulk_update_read_flags_for_narrow
method to remove the read flag on bulk of messages.

We used bootstrap "fade" class to show the password strength
only after password_quality module is imported. Adding "fade"
class was only hiding the bar by setting opacity and the

hide and show the bootstrap by using "hide" class and remove
the use of "fade" as part of the bootstrap removal project.

This commit tries to improve the CSS related to the emoji picker by
restructuring relevant parts of `reactions.css` and `dark_theme.css`.
Via this commit, the redundant classes -- "reaction", "status-emoji",
"composition" are also removed from `emoji_popover_emoji.hbs`.
If needed, specific styling -- according to the type of emoji picker,
can now be applied using the `data-emoji-destination` attribute of the
`.emoji-picker-popover`.
Due to a logical bug in the `process_enter_while_filtering` function,
the `toggle_reaction` was being called when pressing enter while
filtering the emojis in the status emoji picker.
This commit fixes the above bug, while also adding some cleanups to the
`emoji_picker.js` by combining multiple click handlers and aggregating
all the logic related to an emoji being selected into a common function.

Though the correct mapping for Alt in Mac is Option, we had so far been
mapping it to Command, since for the 2 pre-existing shortcuts that used
Alt, Command was the only key that worked on Mac. However, these are
exceptions.
Now we map Alt to Option, and handle the 2 exceptions separately, using
data attributes on those shortcut elements.
This is a prep commit for introducing a hotkey that uses Alt / Option.
This commit fixes the bug in browser back button behavior when
opening the groups overlay from gear menu. The bug was caused
due to browser history containing both "#groups" and "#groups/your"
entries, which essentially resulted in a "#groups/your" -> "#groups"
-> "#groups/your" cycle and thus nothing happend on clicking
browser back button.
The case for a user manually typing "#groups" url would be handled
in next commit.
Use `tabindex` instead of `href` to set focus on `a` tag.
