# View emoji as text

Zulip emoji are compatible with screenreaders and other accessibility
|
|
tools. However, you may still want to view emoji as text.
|
|
For example, when a heart emoji is viewed as text, it looks like `:heart:`.
|
|
|
|

2. Under **Emoji settings**, select **View emoji as text**.
