This works around a failure in the current postgresql-client-common
and postgresql-client-15 packages; it exists primarily to improve
the signal on our CI builds, as the failure is a real failure caused
by the package upgrade process.
This is a prep commit to separate the single test
'test_stream_send_message_events' into two separate tests named
'test_stream_send_message_events' & test_stream_update_message_events'
to verify the events related to send and update message, respectively.
As a part of introducing two new user settings
* 'automatically_follow_topics_policy'
* 'automatically_unmute_topics_policy'
in the next commit, we will extend 'test_stream_send_message_events'.
This logical separation helps in avoiding a single, super-long test.
This commit removes the stray values, i.e., [1, 2, 3], used
in the tests for desktop_icon_count_display.
We use 'UserProfile.DESKTOP_ICON_COUNT_DISPLAY_CHOICES' instead.
'test_change_user_settings' in 'UserDisplayActionTest' excludes
the notification settings and tests only the display settings.
The code block excluding the notification settings doesn't exclude
'modern_notification_settings'. It only excludes the
'notification_settings_legacy'.
This commit replaces 'notification_settings_legacy' with
'notification_setting_types', which consists of all the
notification settings.
This is a follow up to #26728, which disables buttons in preview mode
for any message being edited.
Care is taken to pass the correct preview state (compose vs the message
row being edited) to the popover menu so the buttons in it too can be
disabled as needed.
Inspired by #19821. The original proposal in #19821 got bogged down with
issues around multiple overlapping tooltips, but this seems like a useful step
forward.
By implementing a careful flexbox declaration on a new banner-
element container, this presents banners accessibly across the full
range of possible viewports--and relies only on a single, small
media query to do so.

Expands API changelog feature level 134 entry and adds the related
Changes notes to the events documentation for the updates made in
commit f4fcedd: "stream op: create" and "subscription op: peer_add"
events being sent when a private stream is made public.
Those changes were made after the feature level 133 updates, but
before the feature level 134 updates, which is why 134 is the
feature level for the change that is documented for clients.
In commit ada2991f1c, when a user gains access to a stream due to
a role change, in addition to sending "stream op: create" events,
"subscription op: peer_add" events are sent for streams that the
user gains access to due to their role change. Updates the API
changelog entry for feature level 205.
Updates the "subcription op: peer_add" event documentation to be
more accurate in for the general use cases of this event, which
are to provide updated subscriber information for streams that
a user has access to.
There is no reason to have an index on just `realm_id` or `remote_id`,
as those values mean nothing outside of the scope of a specific
`server_id`. Remove those never-used single-column indexes from the
two tables that have them.
By contrast, the pair of `server_id` and `remote_id` is quite useful
and specific -- it is a unique pair, and every POST of statistics from
a remote host requires looking up the highest `remote_id` for a given
`server_id`, which (without this index) is otherwise a quite large
scan.
Add a unique constraint, which (in PostgreSQL) is implemented as a
unique index.
Added a show_unread_counts personal user setting to the
Settings > Display settings > Advanced section which
lets user choose whether he/she wants to see unread messages
count on the left sidebar for streams.
This setting have three options,
"All Streams" - This will show unread messages count for all
streams.
"Unmuted Stream" - This will be default option and it will
only show unread messages count for unmuted streams.
"No Stream" - This option will not show unread messages count
on any stream.
Fixes#24149
This is a prep commit for introducing new "Show unread counts for" user
display setting. We should use css classes like `.hide` to hide the unread
count from the DOM as opposed to using `$unread_count_span.hide()` because
this injects inline styles and hence we won't be able to change the `display`
style on hovering for unread counts.
This is a prep commit for the new setting `stream_unreads_display`.
Before when a stream was active i.e. once you are viewing topics in
the stream we had a `active-filter` class applied to the stream `li`
but if we were viewing a topic then the `active-filter` was removed
even though the stream was still expanded.
Added a new class `stream-expanded` which persists even when we are
in a topic view, this is useful for knowing whether a stream is
expanded or not within css.
This commit introduces a new behavior for the search bar. Now, if
the search keyword is 'sender:', it displays the title of the user/me.
for example: sender:me
title: Messages sent by you
sender: Palash
title: Messages sent by Palash
for the implementation, we already have the check for 'dm:', which is
similar to this so just added a new if check for 'sender:' and return
the title accordingly.
Fixes: #18690
Currently, `is_common_narrow` relies on `calc_can_mark_messages_read`
to check a number of filters that are "common narrows" (which means
they have a special message header title and different behavior when
exiting a search view).
Creates a helper function,
`single_term_type_returns_all_messages_of_conversation`, that is
used in both the above functions.
The check for an empty array of term types is unnecessary for
`is_common_narrow` because the "All messages" view has an undefined
filter and the "in-home" term type used in the "zhome" message list
is covered. So that empty array check is not moved to the helper
function, and instead stays only in `calc_can_mark_messages_read`.
The helper function checks for a single term type (except in the case
of topic, which is checked in combination with stream) that will return
all the messages of a conversation.
To ensure consistency in the function, split the combined if
condition of in-home and in-all, further improved the comments, and
deleted the unnecessary ones.
Buttons which change the content in the compose textarea were so far
enabled even in preview mode, and would work, but those changes would
not be reflected in the visible preview. This is extremely confusing,
and can lead to the possibility of a user accidentally changing the
content of the compose textarea while previewing, and sending that.
Now we disable those buttons in preview mode, both when composing a new
message and when editing an existing one. We still show the tooltips,
but grey them out and make them unclickable.
Fixes: #20962
Since the cache is flushed when the cutoff or realm changes, the
maximum size of the cache should cap out at the number of streams in
the realm. Raise the max cache size, now that this will not simply
lead to useless cache space for smaller servers.
There is now no longer any reason to have the scheduled_email
enqueuing wait until all of the users' contexts have been generated.
Switch to returning the contexts as an iterator, and send them as we
compute them.
The query plan for fetching recent messages from the arbitrary set of
streams formed by the intersection of 30 random users can be quite
bad, and can descend into a sequential scan on `zerver_recipient`.
Worse, this work of pulling recent messages out is redone if the
stream appears in the next batch of 30 users.
Instead, pull the recent messages for a stream on a one-by-one basis,
but cache them in an in-memory cache. Since digests are enqueued in
30-user batches but still one-realm-at-a-time, work will be saved both
in terms of faster query plans whose results can also be reused across
batches.
This requires that we pull the stream-id to stream-name mapping for
_all_ streams in the realm at once, but that is well-indexed and
unlikely to cause performance issues -- in fact, it may be faster
than pulling a random subset of the streams in the realm.
