Previously the bot sent bot commands whenever an undefined message
was sent by the user. This commit intends to fix the problem so that
the bot will only respond to the first message it does not understand
and not reply to any future undefined messages.
Fixes part of #30049.
The reply given by welcome bot when it does not understand a message,
sent by the user is changed, so that the bot is more clear to the user.
Fixes part of #30049.
This commit performs a sweep on the first batch of non API
files to rename "huddle" to "direct_message_group`.
It also renames variables and methods of type -
"huddle_message" to "group_direct_message".
This is a part of #28640
Updates the base hash for the streams setting overlay to be
"channels" instead of "streams".
Because there are Welcome Bot and Notification Bot messages that
would have been sent with the "/#streams" hash, we will need to
support parsing those overlay hashes as an alias for "/#channels"
permanently.
Part of the stream to channels rename project.
Updates the translated strings in the messages sent by the welcome
bot in new Zulip organizations to use channel instead of stream.
Comments out part of a test that uses translated Italian strings
to check these welcome bot messages and adds a TODO comment to
note that the test code should be uncommented when those strings
are translated for the stream -> channel rename.
Part of stream to channel rename project.
This includes changing the URL to #settings/preferences, with a
transparent redirect so that existing links, like the one from Welcome
Bot, continue to work.
A missed message email notification, where the message is the welcome
message sent by the welcome bot on account creation, get sent when
the user somehow not focuses the browser tab during account creation.
No missed message email or push notifications should be sent for the
messages generated by the welcome bot.
'internal_send_private_message' accepts a parameter
'disable_external_notifications' and is set to 'True' when the sender
is 'welcome bot'.
A check is introduced in `trivially_should_not_notify`, not to notify
if `disable_external_notifications` is true.
TestCases are updated to include the `disable_external_notifications`
check in the early (False) return patterns of `is_push_notifiable` and
`is_email_notifiable`.
One query reduced for both `test_create_user_with_multiple_streams`
and `test_register`.
Reason: When welcome bot sends message after user creation
`do_send_messages` calls `get_active_presence_idle_user_ids`,
`user_ids` in `get_active_presence_idle_user_ids` remains empty if
`disable_external_notifications` is true because `is_notifiable` returns
false.
`get_active_presence_idle_user_ids` calls `filter_presence_idle_user_ids`
and since the `user_ids` is empty, the query inside the function doesn't
get executed.
MissedMessageHookTest updated.
Fixes: #22884
Updates the hash used for the recent conversations view to be
"#recent" instead of "#recent_topics".
We will need to keep the logic for handling "#recent_topics"
permanently because users potentially have messages from
Welcome Bot with links to that hash.
Including "recent_topics" as a web_public_allowed_hash in
hash_util.js can be changed once self-hosted servers cannot
upgrade directly to Zulip 5.x from the current version.
Fixes#23132.
Replaces instances of "recent topics" in the web-app and documentation
to be "recent conversations".
Renames both `recent-topics.md` files in the help center to be
`recent-conversations.md` and updates/redirects links to new URL.
Does not update instances of "recent topics" in frontend code comments
and does not update the main overview changelog, for now.
Does not change case study text where "recent topics" was referenced
in a quote, but does change generic text references to be "recent
conversations".
"help" command occurs in the command list in
initial pms or when bot doesn't understand the message. It doesn't
occur when the bot is respoding to the "help" command itself.
1. The initial welcome message now contains less detail.
2. The bot now responds to these commands: "apps", "edit profile",
"dark mode", "light mode", "streams", "topics", "message formatting",
"keyboard shortcuts" and "help" - the bot still responds if there are
slight variations in these commands.
3. Tests have been made to check if bot responds to the advertised
commands (with variations) and gives a negative message if it doesn't
understand the message.
With substantial tweaks by tabbott.
Fixes#19900.
test_signup: This test was wrong, because the inviter UserProfile was
from a different realm. Such a PreregistrationUser shouldn't be
considered valid.
test_tutorial: The direct call to internal_send_private_message was
using sender's realm as the realm argument which is not valid. It
doesn't lead to any error because the codepath seems to mostly not care
about the realm arg if the sender is a cross-realm bot. From my reading
of the code I think that wrong realm arg here would break user mentions,
because it makes its way to check_message() and then to
build_message_send_dict - but overall the message gets sent without
errors. Either way, this was a bug in the test and should be fixed.
Fixes#2665.
Regenerated by tabbott with `lint --fix` after a rebase and change in
parameters.
Note from tabbott: In a few cases, this converts technical debt in the
form of unsorted imports into different technical debt in the form of
our largest files having very long, ugly import sequences at the
start. I expect this change will increase pressure for us to split
those files, which isn't a bad thing.

We now have this API...
If you really just need to log in
and not do anything with the actual
user:
self.login('hamlet')
If you're gonna use the user in the
rest of the test:
hamlet = self.example_user('hamlet')
self.login_user(hamlet)
If you are specifically testing
email/password logins (used only in 4 places):
self.login_by_email(email, password)
And for failures uses this (used twice):
self.assert_login_failure(email)
This commit mostly makes our tests less
noisy, since emails are no longer an important
detail of sending messages (they're not even
really used in the API).
It also sets us up to have more scrutiny
on delivery_email/email in the future
for things that actually matter. (This is
a prep commit for something along those
lines, kind of hard to explain the full
plan.)
MigrationsTestCase is intentionally omitted from this, since migrations
tests are different in their nature and so whatever setUp()
ZulipTestCase may do in the future, MigrationsTestCase may not
necessarily want to replicate.
This endpoint is part of the old tutorial, which we've removed, and
has some security downsides as well.
This includes a minor refactoring of the tests.
This fixes most cases where we were assigning a user to
the var email and then calling get_user_profile_by_email with
that var.
(This was fixed mostly with a script.)
