Hiding these UI widgets causing layout issues -- specifically, the position of the \vdots menu looks off with these elements missing. Enabling this buttons (and opening the login_to_access modal on click) provides a light advertisement for these features, seems to be the standard practice for forum-like software, and will also be easier to maintain.
