# Configure desktop notifications

You can configure your settings to receive desktop notifications for messages
sent while Zulip is offscreen.

    * If you want desktop notifications for each new message from a stream,
check the **Desktop notifications** option under **Stream messages**.

    * If you want desktop notifications only for private messages and @-mentions,
check the **Desktop notifications** option under **Private messages and @-mentions**.

2. Click on the **Save changes** button at the bottom to save any changes you
made to your notification settings.
