# Browse and subscribe to streams

Most communication in Zulip happens in streams.

{relative|stream|all}

1. Scroll through the streams on the left. You can also **filter** by stream
   name or description.

1. **Subscribe to a stream** by clicking on the gray checkmark to its left.
