We now restrict emails on the zulip realm, and now
`email` and `delivery_email` will be different for
users.
This change should make it more likely to catch
errors where we leak delivery emails or use the
wrong field for lookups.
We now have this API...
If you really just need to log in
and not do anything with the actual
user:
self.login('hamlet')
If you're gonna use the user in the
rest of the test:
hamlet = self.example_user('hamlet')
self.login_user(hamlet)
If you are specifically testing
email/password logins (used only in 4 places):
self.login_by_email(email, password)
And for failures uses this (used twice):
self.assert_login_failure(email)
I am trying to optimize a query in this endpoint.
I don't think I'll actually reduce the number of
queries, but I wanted to capture the query and
this was the easiest way to do it, so might as
well check in the code! :)
MigrationsTestCase is intentionally omitted from this, since migrations
tests are different in their nature and so whatever setUp()
ZulipTestCase may do in the future, MigrationsTestCase may not
necessarily want to replicate.
Add new custom profile field type, External account.
External account field links user's social media
profile with account. e.g. GitHub, Twitter, etc.
Fixes part of #12302
Rename URL type custom profile field in populate db to avoid confusion
with the "GitHub profile" custom external account profile field we'll
be adding shortly.
This makes the implementation of `get_realm` consistent with its
declared return type of `Realm` rather than `Optional[Realm]`.
Fixes#12263.

This is the first step of letting users use Zulip markdown in their
SHORT_TEXT and LONG_TEXT custom profile fields, so that they can
include emphasis, links, etc.
This doesn't include any frontend logic yet, however.
Refactor custom fields creation and deletion tests to assert
if created/deleted field exist or not, instead of asserting
total count of all realm fields.
We were rejecting strings of length equal to the max.
While we're at it, fix the unnecessary period in the error message,
which doesn't align with similar validators.
This is a general code cleanlyness improvement.
While we're at it, we combine together two test classes that didn't
have a particularly good reason for existing.
To ensure that we have some basic data for custom profile settings,
in the `populate_db` data set, remove `options['test_suite']` check
for adding intial custom profile data.
The example_user() function is specifically designed for
AARON, hamlet, cordelia, and friends, and it allows a concise
way of using their built-in user profiles. Eventually, the
widespread use of example_user() should help us with refactorings
such as moving the tests users out of the "zulip.com" realm
and deprecating get_user_profile_by_email.
