Sahil Batra d1b60f322c user_groups: Enable "#groups" UI in production.
We previously restricted "#groups" UI to development server
only due to it not being completed.

Tim Abbott 7a6f288fab narrow: Move maybe_scroll_to_selected call.
This should now happen at the same time it did prior to this change,
without requiring the show_all_message_view wrapper to have any
business logic.

This fixes a potential scroll position bug in the event that
narrow.deactivate in fact calls itself recursively after a timeout.

Tim Abbott eabab840e9 narrow: Hide inbox/recent views inside deactivate.
We already do a very parallel construction in narrow.activate, so this
moves us towards being able to unify those code paths, while also just
being more readable by avoiding a small-but-important wrapper function
in hashchange.js.

I believe this fixes a bug where we were not saving scroll position in
browser history when navigating to "All messages" from another view.

Tim Abbott d505a3c8b7 hashchange: Fix duplicate hides of inbox/recent views.
Since at least 6ef0753a51, it's been the
case that narrow.activate already hides the inbox/recent views if
open, and the same is true for all messages.

Fixing the duplicate call is important in show_home_view, because
show_all_message_view relies on having an accurate value for whether the
recent/inbox views were already open in order to correctly update the
left sidebar.

Tim Abbott a3842584dd hashchange: Fix flicker when navigating to all messages.
Testing experimentally, removing the setTimeout seems to fix a visible
flicker when using Esc to navigate to "All messages" from the Inbox
view. That setTimeout has been moved around without real examination
since 5d79bb6a20 from early 2013; I
don't see any good reason why it would make be necessary only in the
"All messages" code path, and not when narrowing to any other view.

Tim Abbott 0f01eae655 narrow: Simplify actively_scrolling data flow.
There's no good reason to have the caller of deactivate pass this
parameter in.

This effectively reverts a18b1662cb,
which did this as part of trying to avoid an import cycle, with a more
appropriate solution using the existing message_scroll_state module.

Importantly, it also means that we again wait for scrolls longer than
50ms to finish before opening All messages; I think this might fix a
regression.

Tim Abbott 03f3e17a40 narrow: Clarify first parameter to deactivate.
This previous parameter name was inaccurate, since that's not what the
caller is actually asserting for us.

Sahil Batra c9fccf476a settings: Rename default_view and escape_navigates_to_default_view.
This commit renames default_view and escape_navigates_to_default_view
settings to web_home_view and web_escape_navigates_to_home_view in
database and API to match with our recent renaming of user facing
strings related to this.

We also rename the variables, functions, comments in code and class
names and IDs for elements related to this.

N-Shar-ma 82f105aada popovers: Fix bug where modals persisted on hashchange.
Modals like those for Read receipts, Schedule message, Message edit
history, User profile, etc would not close when the hash changed.

Now we close any active modal whenever the hash changes; we add a new
function in `modals.ts` to do this, and call it from `hashchange.js`.

Aman Agrawal ffb944de8e hashchange: Call hide inbox and recent view in show_default_view.
We call show_default_view in various places which didn't use to
check if the other views are hidden. This can cause multiple views
to be visible at the same time.

For example: If inbox is the default view and you press escape
from recent topics, both recent topics and inbox will be visible.

evykassirer d7d7828a12 hashchange: Remove hiding of recent topics.
Recent Topics is hidden when we switch to a narrow view
or the All Messages view, so this call is not needed.
It will also become actively unhelpful when we build
a stream-specific recent topics page, because then it
will be possible to have a hash change that shouldn't
close the recent topics view.

evykassirer 367030ebfe search: Stop disabling and enabling the search close button.
This is logic from 10 years ago (dbc4798594)
that is no longer relevant. It seems like we used to show the
search bar open all the time and only showed the buttons when
there was focus in the search bar. Now we close the search bar
when it's not being used, and no longer need to update button
visibility or disable the search close button.

Aman Agrawal 61f7ede43c hashchange: Never set empty hash `#` in URL.
Setting empty hash `#` scrolls user to the top of message feed if
done via `window.location.hash` or using browser back / forward button.

To avoid this, we set don't set `hash` after org URL for default view
when user uses `escape` key or clicks on org logo.

In other situations, we explicitly set the hash of the view.

position of the new hash.

Aman Agrawal 770a789651 hashchange: Hide popovers on change in hash.
Fixes #24641

When the user clicks on a link which has `stopPropagation`
and doesn't trigger `scroll`, then we don't hide any existing
popovers if the element being clicked doesn't hide popovers
explicitly.

To fix this, we hide all popovers on change in hash which makes sense
on its own given how we use hashes.

Lalit 915b6cd9e7 js: Break cyclic dependency between `admin.js` and `settings.js`.
There was a direct dependency between `admin.js` and `settings.js` which
was due to the fact that we needed to call `build_page` of both modules
in each other's `launch` function.

This is solved by lifting those `build_page` calls up from both modules to
`hashchange.js` which is the module which calls the `launch` function
of both modules.

N-Shar-ma ce68911ab2 hashchange: Ensure no duplicate entries in browser history.
Until now, whenever the hash was updated using the `set_hash` function,
the new url was always pushed into the browser history, even if the current
hash was same as the new hash. This lead to multiple duplicate entries in
the browser history, when using the `z` hotkey to zoom to a message
repeatedly, which is very inconvenient when navigating through history.

This is now fixed by simply returning prematurely from `set_hash` if the
new hash is same as the current one. This fix will also prevent any future
features like `z` from causing duplicate browser history entries.

Fixes: #24468.

Anders Kaseorg c1675913a2 web: Move web app to ‘web’ directory.
Ever since we started bundling the app with webpack, there’s been less
and less overlap between our ‘static’ directory (files belonging to
the frontend app) and Django’s interpretation of the ‘static’
directory (files served directly to the web).

Split the app out to its own ‘web’ directory outside of ‘static’, and
remove all the custom collectstatic --ignore rules. This makes it
much clearer what’s actually being served to the web, and what’s being
bundled by webpack. It also shrinks the release tarball by 3%.
