This commit basically updates the frontend code to directly use
delivery_email field instead of functions like show_email or
email_for_user_settings at places where we want to show email.
We can do this change since we recently updated the server code
to always pass "delivery_email" code in the user objects with its
value being null if the real email is not accessible.
Showing email or "hidden" or nothing at various places in UI like
in users list, subscriber list, user profile popover and modal is
same as before.
Major points -
- Removed show_email and email_for_user_settings functions since we
directly use delivery_email field now as explained above.
- While sorting by emails in the users list, users with real emails
hidden are always shown in last when sorting alphabetically and at
the top when sorting reverse alphabetically. Also, those users with
real emails hidden, are sorted by name among themselves. As we did
before, we do not allow sorting by email when all emails are hidden.
- There is no change in typeahead behavior at this point. We either
hide the email completely or show the real or fake email based on
user level setting.
- Added code to handle delivery_email events and appropriately add/remove
delivery_email field from person objects.
This commit adds dropdown for move_messages_within_stream_limit_seconds
setting which is used to control for how long the user is allowed to
edit topic.
This commit refactors code for realm waiting period setting
to be similar to other time-based inputs. We also add the
code to disable the save button when custom inputs have
invalid values.
There are cases where we add some text in italics inside parens along
with the label in checkbox settings.
This commit adds option to settings_checkbox template so that we can
directly use it and not require to duplicate the settings_checkbox
code and thus we now use settings_checkbox template for
enable_read_receipts setting.
Added a user_list_style personal user setting to the bottom of
Settings > Display settings > Theme section which controls the look
of the right sidebar user list.
The radio button UI includes a preview of what the styles look like.
The setting is intended to eventually have 3 possible values: COMPACT,
WITH_STATUS and WITH_AVATAR; the final value is not yet implemented.

This commit adds a checkbox for allow_message_editing setting and
thus we also remove the "Never" option from the time limit dropdown
as unchecking the newly added checkbox will mean the same.
We also disable the time limit input if message editing is not
allowed.
This commit also changes the label for time limit dropdown.
Fixes part of #21739.
We also show upgrade banner along with disabling the setting.
We also hide the web-public stream creation policy dropdown in
such case as we do when enable_spectator_access is False.
This fix excludes the bots and invitation settings tabs from having the
organization_settings_tip.hbs template being inserted in them.
Arguably we should invert the meaning of this block so the default is
that these notices don't appear, but it's hard to be sure whether we're more
likely to add a new setting panel that is normal settings or a data table.
Fixes: #19967.
We mention about sponsorship in upgrade banner to non-business
organizations. The message for business organizations is same
as before.
There is no explicit hover behavior for banners for org types
other than business, as banners are not themselves links in
such cases and only parts of text inside the banner are links.

Changes the admin UI for the communities directory checkbox to use
the `realm_push_notifications_enabled` page param instead of the
`server_web_public_streams_enabled` page param.
Updates help center documentation about the communities directory
to have clearer information about how the setting works for
self-hosted communitites.
Adds `want_advertise_in_communities_directory` to the realm model
to track organizations that give permission to be listed on such
a site / directory on zulip.com.
Adds a checkbox to the organization profile admin for
organizations to give permission to be advertised in the
Zulip communities directory.
Adds a help center article about the Zulip communities directory
and uses a shared intro documentation file to create sections in
the articles on creating an organization profile and moderating
open organizations.

Adds a drop-down menu for updating the organization type in the
`organization_profile_admin` page. Implements front end for
this setting to work / update like other organization profile,
notification and permissions settings.
One special note about this dropdown is that the listed options
should change once an organization has successfully set a type
other than 'unspecified' in the database. To accomplish this
the initial settings overlay build checks the realm_org_type
value in the page_params to select the correct options list,
and when the dropdown value is reset, either for update events
or for discarding changes, the page_params value is again used
to check for whether the 'unspecified' value should be present
as an option in the dropdown menu.
Adds basic node test for the `server_events_dispatch`.
Also adds a new help center documentation article for this
organization setting that is linked to in the UI.
Fixes#21692.
We were showing the push notifications tooltip in user default
settings section even if the push notifications were configured
on the server.
The bug was because the setting value was undefined in the template
used for user default settings section, so this commit fixes the bug
by correctly passing the setting value to relevant template file.
Fixes#21602.
The 3 instances of dropdown_list_widget using the `label` property had
different design than the rest of all of our dropdowns, in that the
label was on the same line as the dropdown.
Fix this by adjusting the `label` option to use our standard
`dropdown-title` CSS class.
Also remove the colons in the labels.
I confirmed that these were the only instances of this widget using
the label feature.
Fixes#20415.
We show "Email" column heading always in users list and
subscriber list irrespective of the email-address visibility
setting after 46660e5, so we do need to pass show_email
parameter to render_admin_tab and render_stream_settings.
We disable the enable_spectator_access setting when the server level
setting, WEB_PUBLIC_STREAMS_ENABLED setting is set to False.
This commit adds a new argument is_disabled to settings_checkbox which
is used to disable the checkbox and set the color of label accordingly.
This commit also adds a help-link besides the label pointing to
"/help/web-public-streams" which is shown irrespective of the
setting being enabled or disabled.
Fixes#20417.
This commit has the following changes -
- Adds dropdown for changing create_web_public_stream_policy and this
dropdown is visible only if settings.WEB_PUBLIC_STREAMS_ENABLED and
enable_spectator_access is set to True. This dropdown is live-udpated
on changing enable_spectator_access setting.
- The web-public stream option in stream creation form and stream privacy
modal is hidden if one of settings.WEB_PUBLIC_STREAMS_ENABLED or
enable_spectator_access is set to False except in stream privacy modal
when the stream is already web-public so that the user is not confused by
none of the options being selected.
- We disable the web-public stream option in stream creation form and
in stream-privacy modals of stream which are not already web-public
when the user is not allowed to create web-public streams as per
create_web_public_stream_policy setting.
- We use on_show parameter to hide or disable the options in stream-privacy
modal because we use the visible property of element to remove the bottom
border from last element in the stream-privacy choices and thus we have
to wait for the modal to be visible.
Fixes#20287. Fixes#20296.
We restrict access of messages from web public streams if
anonymous login is disabled via `enable_spectator_access`.
Display of `Anonymous login` button is now controlled by
the value of `enable_spectator_access`.
Admins can toggle `enable_spectator_access` via org settings in UI.
This commit does not remove the 'enable_login_emails' field from
RealmUserDefault table but it is just not used and cannot be
changed from UI or API similar to 'enable_marketing_emails' setting.
This commit removes the existing default_twenty_four_hour_time field in
Realm table which was used to set the twenty_four_hour_time setting of
new user on joining and instead we now use the twenty_four_hour_time
field of RealmUserDefault table for the same.
With some tweaks by tabbott to clarify the documentation.
This commit adds a new module settings_defaults.js which calls
the functions in settings_display passing appropriate container
element and settings object as parameters.
We also add one more parameter for_realm_settings to some of the
functions in settings_dislay to differentiate between the user
and realm-level settings.
This commit replaces boolean field add_emoji_by_admins_only with an
integer field add_custom_emoji_policy as we would also add full members
and moderators option for this setting in further commits.
This commit replaces the allow_community_topic_editing boolean with
integer field edit_topic_policy and includes both frontend and
backend changes.
We also update settings_ui.disable_sub_settings_onchange to not
change the color of label as we did previously when the setting
was a checkbox. But now as the setting is dropdown we keep the
label as it is and we don't do anything with label when disabling
dropdowns. Also, this function was used only here so we can safely
change this.
This commit divides the user_invite_restriction setting dropdown to
a checkbox and a dropdown.
The checkbox is used for 'realm_invite_required' setting and dropdown
for 'realm_invite_to_realm_policy'.
This separation of UI elements is fine as these two settings are
separate in database also and also helps in removing excess if-else
conditions and switch cases.
We do not require values of realm_create_stream_policy,
realm_invite_to_stream_policy, realm_private_message_policy
and realm_wildcard_mention_policy in the organization settings
templates, as we handle the dropdown values of these settings
in javascript code (settings_org.js) only and these values
are not used anywhere in templates.
We add a '?' icon besides the "GIPHY integration" label of
giphy settings dropdown.
The icon links to readthedocs page for setting up giphy API
key when api key is not set, and it points to help center
article of GIFs when the api key is added.
This commit adds 'user_can_invite_others_to_realm' function
in settings_data.js which replaces all the instances of
'page_params.can_invite_others_to_realm'.
This change makes it possible to remove the complex logic of
updating 'page_params.can_invite_others_to_realm' on
'realm_update' event as we are using above added helper instead
of using page_params object and thus we always use the updated
value to check whether user can invite others or not.
The 'user_has_permission' helper will be used by functions added
for create_stream_policy and invite_to_stream_policy in further
commits and will help in avoiding code duplication.
Moved `admin_tab` template to `/templates/settings/` folder as
earlier, it was inaccurately placed within the `/templates` folder
and should have been within the `/templates/settings` folder instead.
There was a bug where invite users link is shown in the Invitations
section of settings overlay, irrespective if the user is allowed to
invite or not based on the realm settings. So here we just use the
'can_invite_others_to_realm' field of page_params, that was added in
previous commit itself to hide the link accordingly.
Also added the code in server_events_dispatch.js for this field.
Though it doesn't do live update when the overlay is opened similar
to other policies like create_stream_policy, but it ensures that the
visibility of link is correct if the overlay is opened after the
settings has changed.
We should probably do the complete live update in future of the
elements related to such realm settings.
