It is more suited for `process_request`, since it should stop
execution of the request if the domain is invalid. This code was
likely added as a process_response (in ea39fb2556) because there was
already a process_response at the time (added 7e786d5426, and no
longer necessary since dce6b4a40f).
It quiets an unnecessary warning when logging in at a non-existent
realm.
This stops performing unnecessary work when we are going to throw it
away and return a 404. The edge case to this is if the request
_creates_ a realm, and is made using the URL of the new realm; this
change would prevent the request before it occurs. While this does
arise in tests, the tests do not reflect reality -- real requests to
/accounts/register/ are made via POST to the same (default) realm,
redirected there from `confirm-preregistrationuser`. The tests are
adjusted to reflect real behavior.
Tweaked by tabbott to add a block comment in HostDomainMiddleware.
Fixes#2665.
Regenerated by tabbott with `lint --fix` after a rebase and change in
parameters.
Note from tabbott: In a few cases, this converts technical debt in the
form of unsorted imports into different technical debt in the form of
our largest files having very long, ugly import sequences at the
start. I expect this change will increase pressure for us to split
those files, which isn't a bad thing.

That's the value that matters to the code that catches the exception,
and this change allows simplifying the plumbing somewhat, and gets rid
of the get_rate_limit_result_from_request function.
type().__name__ is sufficient, and much readable than type(), so it's
better to use the former for keys.
We also make the classes consistent in forming the keys in the format
type(self).__name__:identifier and adjust logger.warning and statsd to
take advantage of that and simply log the key().
Now called:
validate_email_not_already_in_realm
We have a separate validation function that
makes sure that the email fits into a realm's
domain scheme, and we want to avoid naming
confusion here.
Django 2.2.x is the next LTS release after Django 1.11.x; I expect
we'll be on it for a while, as Django 3.x won't have an LTS release
series out for a while.
Because of upstream API changes in Django, this commit includes
several changes beyond requirements and:
* urls: django.urls.resolvers.RegexURLPattern has been replaced by
django.urls.resolvers.URLPattern; affects OpenAPI code and related
features which re-parse Django's internals.
https://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/28593
* test_runner: Change number to suffix. Django changed the name in this
ticket: https://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/28578
* Delete now-unnecessary SameSite cookie code (it's now the default).
* forms: urlsafe_base64_encode returns string in Django 2.2.
https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/2.2/ref/utils/#django.utils.http.urlsafe_base64_encode
* upload: Django's File.size property replaces _get_size().
https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/2.2/_modules/django/core/files/base/
* process_queue: Migrate to new autoreload API.
* test_messages: Add an extra query caused by .refresh_from_db() losing
the .select_related() on the Realm object.
* session: Sync SessionHostDomainMiddleware with Django 2.2.
There's a lot more we can do to take advantage of the new release;
this is tracked in #11341.
Many changes by Tim Abbott, Umair Waheed, and Mateusz Mandera squashed
are squashed into this commit.
Fixes#10835.
For a long time, we've been only doing the zxcvbn password strength
checks on the browser, which is helpful, but means users could through
hackery (or a bug in the frontend validation code) manage to set a
too-weak password. We fix this by running our password strength
validation on the backend as well, using python-zxcvbn.
In theory, a bug in python-zxcvbn could result in it producing a
different opinion than the frontend version; if so, it'd be a pretty
bad bug in the library, and hopefully we'd hear about it from users,
report upstream, and get it fixed that way. Alternatively, we can
switch to shelling out to node like we do for KaTeX.

Previous cleanups (mostly the removals of Python __future__ imports)
were done in a way that introduced leading newlines. Delete leading
newlines from all files, except static/assets/zulip-emoji/NOTICE,
which is a verbatim copy of the Apache 2.0 license.

This makes the implementation of `get_realm` consistent with its
declared return type of `Realm` rather than `Optional[Realm]`.
Fixes#12263.

Note that a pretty common use case for this is a realm admin sending this to
everyone after an import from HipChat or Slack. So this adds the realm_name
to the title (so that there is something they might recognize) and kept the
wording generic enough to accommodate the user not having clicked anything
to get this email.
Also strengthens the tests a bit to better test the complicated template
logic.
It appears that our i18n logic was only using the recipient's language
for logged-in emails, so even properly tagged for translation and
translated emails for functions like "Find my team" and "password
reset" were being always sent in English.
With great work by Vishnu Ks on the tests and the to_emails code path.
A key part of this is the new helper, get_user_by_delivery_email. Its
verbose name is important for clarity; it should help avoid blind
copy-pasting of get_user (which we'll also want to rename).
Unfortunately, it requires detailed understanding of the context to
figure out which one to use; each is used in about half of call sites.
Another important note is that this PR doesn't migrate get_user calls
in the tests except where not doing so would cause the tests to fail.
This probably deserves a follow-up refactor to avoid bugs here.
This adds a function that sends provided email to all administrators
of a realm, but in a single email. As a result, send_email now takes
arguments to_user_ids and to_emails instead of to_user_id and
to_email.
We adjust other APIs to match, but note that send_future_email does
not yet support the multiple recipients model for good reasons.
Tweaked by tabbott to modify `manage.py deliver_email` to handle
backwards-compatibily for any ScheduledEmail objects already in the
database.
Fixes#10896.
This is the analog of the last commit, for the password reset flow.
For these users, they should be managing/changing their password in
the LDAP server.
The error message for users doing the wrong thing here is nonexistent
isn't great, but it should be a rare situation.
This commit adds a view which will be used to process login requests,
adds an AuthenticationTokenForm so that we can use TextField widget for
tokens, and activates two factor authentication code path whenever user
tries to login.
