This commit removes the id from email notification batching period
setting dropdown and adds class such that we can use same template
for the realm-level settings as well. We also add 'setting_'
prefix as we do for other settings and modify the JS code accordingly.
This commit fixes the live update of notification sound
setting dropdown. We already update the notification sound
source to play the correct sound after changing the setting.
We rename class of notification settings except checkboxes
by prefixing them with 'setting_' for clarity.
We do not change class of checkboxes because settings_checkbox
is used by other templates also and if we only change class
of those using notification_settings_checkboxes then live
update code will break and will need to add separate condition
for differentiating between which partial template is used.
This is a prep commit for adding UI for realm-level defaults
of user settings.
This commit renames notification-sound-audio element to
user-notification-sound-audio because we will be adding similar
element for realm-level default of user settings also.
We also change the child elements to have current id as their
class for the same reason.
This is a prep commit for adding UI for realm-level default
of user settings. We refactor the code to use classes
instead of ids such that we can use the common code for the
new settings.
'corporate_enabled', 'realm_push_notifications_enabled'
and 'realm_digest_emails_enabled' settings are part of
page_params and not user_settings.
This was introduced in 998d710275.
We have merged the '/settings/display' and 'settings/notifications'
endpoints to '/settings' in backend. This commit updates the frontend
code to '/settings' endpoint for updating notification settings
instead of '/settings/notifications' endpoint.
This is a prep commit to extract the gear menu as a
handlebars template.
We are renaming `enable_marketing_emails_enabled` to
`corporate_enabled` as it will be also used in the
handlebars template of the gear menu.
* Remove unnecessary json_validator for string parameters.
* Remove unnecessary JSON encoding in frontend calls. Structurally,
JavaScript does correct encoding without explicit JSON encoding.
Fixes part of #18035.
This commit adds support for a `None` option in the dropdown menu
of `Notification sound`. When this option is selected, no audible
notification is sent to the user.
`None` will appear as the first option in the dropdown menu, since
this is not categorized as a playable audio.
This new option is added so that folks can disable audio notifications
without losing their other notification configuration (like for PMs, mentions).
Necessary test case is added for this new option.
Fixes#16090.
This is mostly a pure code move.
In passing I remove an unneeded call to
update_calculated_fields in the dispatch code,
plus some tests that don't need them.
Remove the unused notifications-area wrapper. Remove the feature
detection code as all browsers recognize the <audio> element. Create
the <audio> statically with the page template. Use multiple <source>s
to let the browser detect the appropriate format instead of trying to
do its job for it. Remove the absurd loop="yes" attribute, which had
fortunately been specified on the wrong element.

The only caller for this function was settings_config,
so we put it there.
For the stream_edit test we no longer mock the function.
(The reason we mocked the function was more about avoiding
the heavy settings_notifications import than the function
itself.) This gives some incidental coverage, but then I
also add some more real coverage on it.
ES and TypeScript modules are strict by default and don’t need this
directive. ESLint will remind us to add it to new CommonJS files and
remove it from ES and TypeScript modules.

Listen to change events from the checkbox and pay attention to its
actual value, rather than simulating it by toggling booleans on click
events.

Prettier would do this anyway, but it’s separated out for a more
reviewable diff. Generated by ESLint.

We do not need to use list_render for displaying list of streams specific
notification settings, as this is not scrollable and we do not provide
option to sort or filter this list as well.
After this change, all our list_render instances will be using simplebar
and we can change the code accordingly to fix the behaviour of scrolling.
For some widgets we now avoid duplicate redraw
events from this old pattern:
widget = list_render.create(..., {
}).init();
widget.sort(...);
The above code was wasteful and possibly
flicker-y due to the fact that `init` and
`sort` both render.
Now we do this:
widget = list_render.create(..., {
init_sort: [...],
});
For other widgets we just clean up the need
to call `init()` right after `create()`.
We also allow widgets to pass in `sort_fields`
during initialization (since you may want to
have `init_sort` use a custom sort before the
first render.)
Finally, we make the second and third calls
eliminate the prior updates from the previous
widget. This can prevent strange bugs with
double-reversing columns (although that's
been prevented in a better way with a recent
commit), as well as avoiding double work
with sorting.
I pushed this risk commit to the end of
a PR that had a bunch of harmless prep
commits at the front, and I didn't make
it clear enough that the last commit (this
one) hadn't been tested thoroughly.
For the list_render widget, we can simplify
the intialization pretty easily (avoid
extra sorts, for example), but the cache aspects
are still tricky on subsequent calls.
For some widgets we now avoid duplicate redraw
events from this old pattern:
widget = list_render.create(..., {
}).init();
widget.sort(...);
The above code was wasteful and possibly
flicker-y due to the fact that `init` and
`sort` both render.
Now we do this:
widget = list_render.create(..., {
init_sort: [...],
});
For other widgets we just clean up the need
to call `init()` right after `create()`.
We also allow widgets to pass in `sort_fields`
during initialization (since you may want to
have `init_sort` use a custom sort before the
first render.)
The user has an option for setting global
notification settings as well as the same settings
for individual streams. Currently the user has to
keep track of each unmatched stream and then visit
each individual stream whose settings he wants to
update.
Thus this adds a dedicated UI table allowing the user
to view and update the notifications of the specific
streams which differs from the global settings.
It is located on the same page where the user defined
global notification settings can be modified.
