For spectators, the chunk of page_params that originates from
do_events_register isn’t assigned until ui_init.js. That means the
TypeScript type of page_params is mostly a lie during module load
time: reading a parameter too early silently results in undefined
rather than the declared type, with unpredictable results later on.
We want to make such an early read into an immediate runtime error,
for both users and spectators consistently, and pave the way for
runtime validation of the page_params type. As a second step, split
out the subset of fields that pertain to the entire realm.

In the Personal settings stream management panel,
when notification settings are changed, Saving/Saved
indicator are shown on personal settings heading instead
of notification settings heading.
Fix this issue by showing indicator on
notification settings heading.
Fixes: zulip#28728.
This commit addresses code duplication issue in
'stream_is_muted_changed()' which was redundantly
present in 'stream_setting_changed()'.
The changes ensure that the functionality is now centralized
and can be easily updated or extended in the future.
This commit introduces a "reset to default notifications" button to
the personal panel in stream settings. On clicking, it unmutes the
current stream and resets all its notification configurations to
default user settings.
Fixes zulip#27624.
We now make the right panel empty if the URL hash is changed to
"#streams/all" or "#streams/subscribed" either manually or by
using the browser back button.
We call the function to make the right panel empty in change_state
and not in the callback function for toggler.goto because the right
panel empty becomes empty due to change in hash and not due to
toggling between subscribed and all streams.
This commit refactors code to not try to update the hash multiple
times.
We now update the url hash only in the callback function for
toggler.goto and remove the call to setup_subscriptions_stream_hash
in open_edit_panel_for_row. This change works as the hash depends
on the section being opened in right panel, so it seems better to
handle the hash update while toggling to the correct section.
A couple of more changes we need to do to make this work correctly
are -
- We extract the code to call "toggler.goto" for the correct section
outside the update_toggler_for_sub to a new function
set_up_right_panel_section. This is changed as update_toggler_for_sub
returns early without doing anything if the url hash is not the one
we have when settings panel for a particular stream is opened and
now the hash is updated after that check as a callback from
toggler.goto.
- set_up_right_panel_section uses stream_edit_toggler.select_tab
to toggle to the correct section in right panel so we now need
to set stream_edit_toggler.select_tab in change_state.
This commit adds new API endpoint to get stream email which is
used by the web-app as well to get the email when a user tries
to open the stream email modal.
The stream email is returned only to the users who have access
to it. Specifically for private streams only subscribed users
have access to its email. And for public streams, all non-guest
users and only subscribed guests have access to its email.
All users can access email of web-public streams.
In this commit, we move the "Mute stream" option to the top of the
notification settings, since the action of muting a stream works
in conjunction with the other notification settings.
We also rename `is_notification_setting` to
`has_global_notification_setting` which better defines the purpose of
the function and now use `is_notification_setting` only to check which
options we need to show under the "Notification settings" section.
This allows us to accommodate the "Mute stream" option under the
"Notification settings" section without affecting the functionality of
the other notification options.
Fixes part of #27274.
This commit allows the user to change notification settings even though
the stream is muted and adds a line of text in stream settings and
notification settings.
Fixes#27272.
This commit changes the UI for subscribing to streams on stream rows
to be more like the mobile version (zulip/zulip-mobile#5333).
The current design made it hard to discover how to subscribe to
streams via left panel and is not very clear on the fact that
its not possible to subscribe to private streams.
To address this the following changes have been made:
- For unsubscribed streams, the on hover-checkmark is replaced by
a "+" which is always displayed and has on-hover highlighting.
- For unsubscribed private streams, the "+" is disabled.
- Tooltips with appropriate messages are added on the "+" sign for the
above 2 cases.
- A tooltip has also been for the on-hover checkmark for subscribed
streams.

We now disable the submit button if no input is changed
in modals used for editing name and descriptions of
stream and user groups. The button is enabled if any
value is changed.
Organization owners can make streams private even if they're not
subscribed to them, but cannot access private streams they're not
subscribed to. This means they're able to lock themself out of streams.
This change warns users of this and give them a chance to subscribe.
Fixes#26437.
This commit adds a 'Default stream for new users' checkbox in
the stream editing UI to allow admins to easily add or remove
a stream as the default stream for new users. Previously, this
functionality required navigating to separate menu.
Fixes a part of #24048.
Earlier the API endpoints related to streams accepts and returns a
field `can_remove_subscribers_group_id` which represents the ID
of user_group whose members can remove subscribers from stream.
This commit renames this field to `can_remove_subscribers_group`.
This commit changes the button text from "Cancel" to "Close" in
copy email address modal, since it is weird to click on "Cancel"
button after having copied the email address and might confuse
users. Using "Close" makes it clear that the button is to just
close the modal.
Archiving a user/stream notification stream disables
user/stream notifications.This commit adds a warning
that notifications will be disabled while archiving
any notification stream.

Removes redundant `preventDefault` and `stopPropagation` calls for the
users of `dialog_widget.ts` module since we are already calling those
functions in the submit button click handler now.
This commit remove the Saving/Saved notices when editing the stream
name and/or description. Instead, it replaces the "Save changes" button
with a spinner while the changes are being saved.
Fixes#24535.
This commit renames ID of the container element of stream
settings overlay to streams_overlay_container. This makes
it consistent with the container element of settings overlay.
This commit refactors get_realm_user_groups_for_dropdown_list_widget
function to use "group_permission_settings" module instead of
passing variables like "allow_internet_group", etc. individually
for each settings.
We lose some test coverage due to this commit, but that would be
fixed when we add some more group-based settings and allow groups
other than system groups in the group based settings.
When referring to <div id="my-id" class="my-class">:
- my-id is an id
- #my-id is a selector
- my-class is a class name
- .my-class is a selector
When an id or a class name is interpolated into a selector, it needs
to be escaped with CSS.escape.

We expect the URL to be of stream if it is opened in right panel.
As archiving a stream extracts stream id from hash,
but while a stream is opened and we switch between `All Streams` or
`Subscribed` tabs, the url changes, causing bug in archiving the stream.
As as fix for this issue if a stream is opened in the right
panel the hash of the URL remain of the stream and doesn't update.
If it is archived then the URL updates accordingly.
