This commit prepares the frontend code to be consumed by webpack.
It is a hack: In theory, modules should be declaring and importing the
modules they depend on and the globals they expose directly.
However, that requires significant per-module work, which we don't
really want to block moving our toolchain to webpack on.
So we expose the modules by setting window.varName = varName; as
needed in the js files.
The function `settings_account.add_custom_profile_fields_to_settings`
called twice, which resulted in two templates objects being
rendered.
The function also didn't check whether settings overlay was open or
not when processing new events, and thus would throw an "undefined"
error if a custom profile field was editing while the overlay was not
open.
Fixes#9668.
For some reason in my original version I was sending both
content and data to the client for submessage events,
where data === JSON.parse(content). There's no reason
to not just let the client parse it, since the client
already does it for data that comes on the original
message, and since we might eventually have non-JSON
payloads.
The server still continues to validate that the payload
is JSON, and the client will blueslip if the server
regressses and sends bad JSON for some reason.
This should make it easier for us to iterate on a less-dense Zulip.
We create two classes on body, less_dense_mode and more_dense_mode, so
that it's easy as we refactor to separate the two concepts from things
like colors that are independent.
This commit lays the foundation to handle submessages for
plugin widgets. Right now it just logs events, but subsequent
commits will add widget functionality.
We now do real-time sync to update the attachments UI when new
attachments are uploaded/deleted.
While we're at it, we fix the UI for the delete option to not do a
weird local echo thing.
This completes the work of a couple issues. There's still useful
performance work to do here (see the TODO), but it's a minor issue in
a rarely-used screen.
Fixes#6731.
Fixes#3710.
We send add events on upload, update events when sending a message
referencing it, and delete updates on removal.
This should make it possible to do real-time sync for the attachments
UI.
Based in part on work by Aastha Gupta.
Add realm setting to set time limit for message deleitng.
Set default value of message_content_delete_limit_seconds
to 600 seconds(10 min).
Thanks to Shubham Dhama for rebasing and reworking this. Some final
edits also done by Tim Abbott.
Fixes#7344.
Currently, stream subscriptions aren't getting updated without
hard reload when user is deactivated in realm.
Fix this issue by updating stream subscription widgets on user
deactivation event.
Fixes#5623
Fixes#8853.
In certain cases, the browser is not able to look up the message.
Include the recipient data for the message in the delete_message event,
so look up of those attributes by the browser isn't required.
Replace mark_message_as_read with process_read_messages_event as the
latter function is only correct for marking a message as having been
read by this browser.
In our new system for updating realm settings, we don't need to create
separate functions to update the input elements for each feature.
Most of the work is done automatically by
`settings_org.sync_realm_settings`.
We are having a same code in `render_notifications_stream_ui`
and `render_signup_notifications_stream_ui` functions aside from
the HTML element. So this commit will remove the duplicate code in
`render_signup_notifications_stream_ui` and make use of
`render_notifications_stream_ui`.
Fixes#8886.
Now that we have support for displaying custom profile fields, this
adds administrator-level support for creating them.
Tweaked by tabbott to fix a few small bugs and clean up the commit message.
Fixes#1760.
This fixes the user groups UI to follow the Zulip standard mechanisms
(using the appropriate server_events system to update all browsers
properly). It also, as a side effect, fixes#8692, since it
eliminates the weird behavior of trying to re-insert a user group
after reformatting it in the frontend.
Thanks to Tarun Kumar for preliminary work on this.
Currently, our stream creation do not add stream list to all
stream list. Only subscription-add event add stream list to
stream list. If public stream is created without acting user
subscribed to stream, then newly created stream is not listed
to all stream list.
On stream creation add sub to all stream list table.
Rename `toggle_allow_message_editing_pencil` to
`update_message_topic_editing_pencil` in `settings_org.js`.
As this function update the pencil icon for updating message
topic in message row header.
Add `translate_emoticons` to `prop_types` and `expected_keys`.
Furthermore, create a emoji-translating Markdown inline pattern.
Also use a JavaScript version of `translate_emoticons` and then use
this function during Markdown previews and as a preprocessor. This
is only needed for previews, because usually emoticon translation
happens on the backend after sending.
Add tests for emoticon translation, a settings UI, and a /help/ page
as well.
Tweaked by tabbott to fix various test failurse as well as how this
handles whitespace, requiring emoticons to not have adjacent
characters.
Fixes#1768.
This fixes the real-time sync for the user groups membership data
structure to work like these work in the rest of Zulip; now, edits
made in one browser are immediately and correctly reflected in other
browsers.
This adds button under "Organization profile" settings, which
deactivates the organization and sends an "event" to all the
active user and log out them.
Fixes: #8212.
This is done by using a bot's ID instead of email in
the handler methods for bot_data.bots and bot_data.services,
and updating all code paths involved.
This commit adds a setting to limit creation of generic bots
to admins for realms that want that restriction. (Generic
bots, apart from being considered spammy on some realms,
have less locked down permissions than webhook bots).
Fixes#7066.
This mostly moves code from server_events_dispatch, but
it also de-duplicates the logic in emoji_success(), and
it does early-return for the "text" case to keep the
function a bit flatter.
We no longer have a special UI setting and model
field ("emoji_alt_code") for saying users want text-only
emojis. We now instead make "text" be a fifth choice
for "emojiset".
Fixes#7406
This adds custom CSS through JavaScript for things that do not
scope well and will override other inherited styles.
This should ONLY be used for problematic CSS that has no obvious
or easy CSS-only solution.
(Specifically, we need this for the "default link" styling, which is
hard to override because we don't want to start winning ties due to
specificity that we would not have won in the light theme).
When we were deleting a stream from the sidebar using the
stream/delete event, we were getting tracebacks due to this sequence
of operations:
* remove id from stream_list.stream_sidebar
* rebuild stream list
* remove sub from stream_data
This fixes the bug by calling stream_data.delete_sub() first.
Deletions are tricky if you do things out of order. We can probably
prevent tracebacks by having a deleted flag, but that can just cause
different problems.
Last commit tweaked by tabbott to fix a small bug in handling the case
where the user was not subscribed to the delete stream.
We continue to have page_params.realm_default_streams, but
now we do lookups on whether a stream is a default stream
by using a Dict indexed by stream_id.
We are also careful to update that during live updates.
This fixes a flaw that we weren't updating the list of realms
correctly for events that remove a default stream.
This fixes a confusing bug where administrators would be offered the
convenient topic-edit pencil even if message editing was actually
disabled.
This doesn't yet fix the real-time sync issues of changing the setting
without reloading.
Fixes#5946.
The new method borrows some code from the event loop
and unread_ops.mark_messages_as_read, and it is now
flexible about message_ids being marked as unread
even when there is no corresponding message in the
message store. For that scenario we still want to
update our data structures, which wasn't happening
before this change. (Generally, this was a non-issue
up until now, but it will become a bigger issue when
we start loading unread message ids from the server.)
This new setting controls whether or not users are allowed to see the
edit history in a Zulip organization. It controls access through 2
key mechanisms:
* For long-ago edited messages, get_messages removes the edit history
content from messages it sends to clients.
* For newly edited messages, clients are responsible for checking the
setting and not saving the edit history data. Since the webapp was
the only client displaying it before this change, this just required
some changes in message_events.js.
Significantly modified by tabbott to fix some logic bugs and add a
test.
`add_emoji_by_admins_only` backend setting is represented by page_param's
`realm_add_emoji_by_admins_only` attribute. When this setting was changed
we were wrongly updating the `add_emoji_by_admins_only` attribute which
doesn't exist.
This system hasn't been in active use for several years, and had some
problems with it's design. So it makes sense to just remove it to declutter
the codebase.
Fixes#5655.
Added a dropdown in the organization settings page with a search-box and
required styles. Also added an element to disable it. Added a method to
populate the dropdown using list_rendering.js. Also altered response to
the event of deletion of the notifications stream on the frontend. On
selection of a new stream or on clicking 'Disable', a patch request is
made with stream-id to /json/realm.
