Since our Webpack config passes pre-minified JS files to
script-loader, they can’t be used as modules. Use the normal
unminified version, letting Webpack minify it and give us source maps.

ES and TypeScript modules are strict by default and don’t need this
directive. ESLint will remind us to add it to new CommonJS files and
remove it from ES and TypeScript modules.

This is a pretty straightforward conversion.
The bulk of the diff is just changing emoji.js
to ES6 syntax.
There is one little todo that can be deferred
to the next commit--we are now set up to have
markdown.js require emoji.js directly, since
it is no longer on `window`.
