Currently, there was no markdown page for deactivate-own-user API
endpoint. Created deactivate-own-user.md for the API page and
created a new owner client in test-api to reactivate the client
deactivated during testing.
Also changed endpoint name from deactivate-my-account to
deactivate-own-user, for better consistency with other endpoints.
Fixes#16163.
This commit renames --force argument used with various tests to
--skip-provision-check. As a consequence of this name change all other
files that set --force option for the test commands have been updated.
This change is done in order to provide more clarity for using this
option for runnning tests.
This commit addresses issue #17455.
This commit moves --force option used with various tests to
test-scripts.py to have it alongside the logic that does provisioning
status assertion.
This is a step towards providing more clarity over use of this
argument with tests as asked in issue #17455.
Allowing any admins to create arbitrary users is not ideal because it
can lead to abuse issues. We should require something stronger that
requires the server operator's approval and thus we add a new
can_create_users permission.
A few major themes here:
- We remove short_name from UserProfile
and add the appropriate migration.
- We remove short_name from various
cache-related lists of fields.
- We allow import tools to continue to
write short_name to their export files,
and then we simply ignore the field
at import time.
- We change functions like do_create_user,
create_user_profile, etc.
- We keep short_name in the /json/bots
API. (It actually gets turned into
an email.)
- We don't modify our LDAP code much
here.
Fixes#2665.
Regenerated by tabbott with `lint --fix` after a rebase and change in
parameters.
Note from tabbott: In a few cases, this converts technical debt in the
form of unsorted imports into different technical debt in the form of
our largest files having very long, ugly import sequences at the
start. I expect this change will increase pressure for us to split
those files, which isn't a bad thing.

This commit adds python code to call javascript_examples.js in its
two supported modes. tools/test-api asserts that the example output
is as expected, whereas the API markdown extension is used to render
these examples in the docs.
We now restrict emails on the zulip realm, and now
`email` and `delivery_email` will be different for
users.
This change should make it more likely to catch
errors where we leak delivery emails or use the
wrong field for lookups.
Upcoming changes in test_generated_curl_examples_for_success modifies
various data of iago user heavily. So it's much easier to run
test_the_api initially than making various changes in tests of
test_the_api function.
This new test runs each generated curl example against the Zulip API,
checking whether it returns successfully without errors.
Significantly modified by tabbott for simplicity.
django.setup is already called (with different/better environment
variables) inside test_server_running; we shouldn't be calling it just
before that to make imports work.
I discovered this because imports done at the wrong time would
potentially incorrectly have `testserver` as the EXTERNAL_HOST.
Now reading API keys from a user is done with the get_api_key wrapper
method, rather than directly fetching it from the user object.
Also, every place where an action should be done for each API key is now
using get_all_api_keys. This method returns for the moment a single-item
list, containing the specified user's API key.
This commit is the first step towards allowing users have multiple API
keys.
This commit adds tests for the fixture for when a user is not
authorized (perhaps because the query requires the use of admin
privileges) for a particular query.
In templates/zerver/api/update-message.md, we have a sample fixture
for when a zulip.Client does not have the permission to update/edit
a particular message. This commit adds a test for that fixture.
Also, tools/test-api now also uses a non-admin client for this test,
which might come in handy in the future.
We now have a separate page for common error payloads, for example,
the payload for when the client's API key is invalid. All error
payloads that are presented on this page will be tested similarly
to our other non-error sample fixtures.
Now that the Markdown extension defined in
zerver/lib/bugdown/api_generate_examples depended on code in the
tools/lib/* directory, it caused the production tests to fail since
the tools/ directory wouldn't exist in a production environment.
Tweaked by tabbott to not remove it from lister.py, linter_lib, and
friends, since those are intended to support both Python 2 and 3
(we're planning to extract them from the repository).
Previously these tests required you to run them with the root of the
Zulip repository as the current working directory, just due to
sloppiness.
We clean this up, while also making the path handling more consistent
and involving less fragile code.
Fixes#4169.
This causes `upgrade-zulip-from-git`, as well as a no-option run of
`tools/build-release-tarball`, to produce a Zulip install running
Python 3, rather than Python 2. In particular this means that the
virtualenv we create, in which all application code runs, is Python 3.
One shebang line, on `zulip-ec2-configure-interfaces`, explicitly
keeps Python 2, and at least one external ops script, `wal-e`, also
still runs on Python 2. See discussion on the respective previous
commits that made those explicit. There may also be some other
third-party scripts we use, outside of this source tree and running
outside our virtualenv, that still run on Python 2.
Now that we have decided to move our API bindings to a separate
repo and specify them as a pip dependency, we can stop modifying
PATH to include the api/ directory.
This helps make the Zulip development environment somewhat more robust
to new contributors, since it will give them a nice warning if they
try running any of our development tools outside the Zulip virtualenv.
