Anders Kaseorg 080abf4a1e emoji: Abstract all name_to_codepoint, codepoint_to_name accesses.
Computed indexes into these raw objects should be guarded with
Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty; make our accessors do this
automatically and use them consistently.

rebtung f7fbe3419f api: Improve consistency of reactions API.
Previously, the message and event APIs represented the user differently
for the same reaction data. To make this more consistent, I added a
user_id field to the reaction dict for both messages and events. I
updated the front end to use the user_id field rather than the user
dict. Lastly, I updated front end and back end tests that used user
info.

I primarily tested this by running my local Zulip build and
adding/removing reactions from messages.

Fixes #12049.

Steve Howell 3e199ed559 reactions: Remove name from local_id.
Adding the emoji name, which can have multiple aliases,
to the `local_id` key seemed to needlessly complicate
the code here.

Steve Howell f59cca2dcd reactions: Rewrite code to use clean reactions.
Before this commit, the reactions code would
take the `message.reactions` structure from
the server and try to "collapse" all the reactions
for the same users into the same reactions,
but with each reaction having a list of user_ids.
It was a strangely denormalized structure that
was awkward to work with, and it made it really
hard to reason about whether the data was in
the original structure that the server sent or
the modified structure.

Now we use a cleaner, normalized Map to keep
each reaction (i.e. one per emoji), and we
write that to `message.clean_reactions`.

The `clean_reactions` structure is now the
authoritatize source for all reaction-related
operations. As soon as you try to do anything
with reactions, we build the `clean_reactions`
data on the fly from the server data.

In particular, when we process events, we just
directly manipulate the `clean_reactions` data,
which is much easier to work with, since it's
a Map and doesn't duplicate any data.

This rewrite should avoid some obscure bugs.

I use `r` as shorthand for the clean reaction
structures, so as not to confuse it with
data from the server's message.reactions.

It also avoids some confusion where we use
`reaction` as a var name for the reaction
elements.

Anders Kaseorg e257253e64 emoji_codes: Replace JS module with JSON module.

Anders Kaseorg 28f3dfa284 js: Automatically convert var to let and const in most files.
This commit was originally automatically generated using `tools/lint
--only=eslint --fix`. It was then modified by tabbott to contain only
changes to a set of files that are unlikely to result in significant
merge conflicts with any open pull request, excluding about 20 files.
His plan is to merge the remaining changes with more precise care,
potentially involving merging parts of conflicting pull requests
before running the `eslint --fix` operation.

Armaan Ahluwalia 6d255efe4c app: Prepare JS files for consumption by webpack.
This commit prepares the frontend code to be consumed by webpack.

It is a hack: In theory, modules should be declaring and importing the
modules they depend on and the globals they expose directly.

However, that requires significant per-module work, which we don't
really want to block moving our toolchain to webpack on.

So we expose the modules by setting window.varName = varName; as
needed in the js files.

Brock Whittaker a88ca9fafc emoji-reactions: Fix reactions to not break inline-block display.
This fixes the reactions to not break a new line by changing them from
a weird combination of “float: left” and “display: block” (inlined), to
just “display: inline-block”.

With fixes from Harshit Bansal for an issue with using the hotkeys in
a filtered popover.

Steve Howell d7813ee6b3 reactions: Remove unneeded message_store.get() calls.
Both callers to get_user_list_for_message_reactions() already
had a message object, so there was no need to pass in an id
just to fetch it from message_store again, so now the first
parameter is message, not message_id.

Steve Howell 87f5c22593 Simplify how we find the current user's emoji reactions.
This adds the current_user_has_reacted_to_emoji() helper.

This new helper is easier to use and slightly more efficient
than calling get_user_list_for_message_reaction() and then
indexOf().

This also replaces one call to get_user_list_for_message_reaction()
with a list of user_ids that we already had locally.

The node tests were improved a bit here, including a minor
whitespace fixup.

Tejas Kasetty 5dd5c84854 Add support for emoji picker hotkeys in compose context.
This is a follow-up to merging the compose and reactions emoji
pickers. The logic for what happens when the user picks an emoji via
the hotkeys (i.e. hits `enter`) was still attempting to add a reaction
to the currently selected message unconditionally.

This commit adds a check in the two `enter` key code paths, and does
the correct thing in each case.

Steve Howell cf6545a71f reactions: Only warn for unknown user ids.
If we get reactions for deactivated users, or otherwise missing
users, we only issue a blueslip warning now. The function
get_message_reactions() was indirectly causing blueslip errors
before this fix, but we can downgrade to warnings now that this
function has better unit tests around it.

We eventually want to track deactivated users on the client.

Tim Abbott ec3e5e844a reactions: Clean up popovers and hover logic.
Previously, the emoji reactions popovers were keyed off the
edit_content area, which is problematic because that area was
created/deleted on hover, resulting in orphaned popovers (which
wouldn't close properly normally). That had been hackishly addressed
in the original PR with the overbroad `$('.popover').remove();`. To
remove that, we fix the actions popover to always be based on an
element that exists in the page.

There probably more to do here, but this is good enough to merge emoji
reactions and iterate from here.

Arpith Siromoney 9c64a08cad Add frontend support for emoji reactions.
This commit replaces the placeholder "clipboard" button with a reaction button.
This is done on any message that can't be edited. Also, on messages sent by
the user the actions popover (toggled by the down chevron icon) contains
an option to add a reaction.

When clicked, a popover with a search bar and a list of emojis is displayed.
If the right sidebar is collapsed (the viewport is small), the popover is placed
to the left of the button.
Focus is set to the search bar. Typing in the search bar filters emojis.

Emojis with which the user has reacted to this message are highlighted.
Clicking them sends an API request to remove that reaction.
Clicking on non-highlighted emojis sends an API request to add a reaction.
When the popover loses focus it is closed.

The frontend listens for reaction events. When an add-reaction event is
received, the emoji is displayed at the bottom of the message with a
count initialized to 1. If there was an existing reaction to the message with
the same emoji, the count is incremented.

Old messages fetched from the server contain reactions.
They are displayed (along with title and count) at the bottom
of each message.

When clicking the emoji reaction at the bottom of the message, if the
user has already reacted with that emoji to this message, the reaction
is removed and the count is decremented. Otherwise, a reaction is added
and the count is incremented.

Hovering over the emoji reaction at the bottom of the message displays
a list of users who have reacted with this emoji along with the
emoji name.

Hovering over the emoji reactions at the bottom of the message displays
a button to add a reaction.

Fixes #541.
