This reverts commit f3964673e7.
It broke drafts_scroll by confusing jQuery object APIs with DOM
element APIs.

Improves rendering of drafts to make it look more closer
to normal messages. This is done by passing the draft content
through rendered_markdown so that dynamic elements in the content
get updated before showing drafts modal.
Previously, opening a draft and closing it without changing the
content would cause us to show the "saved as draft" tooltip. This was
annoying and would cause annoying UX after fixing a bug related to
saving drafts when reloading, as such, this commit removes the above
behaviour by introducing a simple check on whether the draft contents
are edited.
This provides a convenient interface to hide all drafts.
Fixes#19360.
However, we may want to continue to implement a button in the drafts
overlay as well for doing this operation.
Now that it's further away from the composebox, we probably want it to
be visible for longer. Doubling it from 1.5 seconds to 3 seconds seems
reasonable to start with, although we should tune it based on feedback.
Now that this is in the left sidebar, we can remove the now-redundant
compose area button for it. This also changes where the "Saved as
draft" tooltip appears.
This currently shows the drafts as a popup. Eventually, we'll want to
migrate it to be a view in the center pane, as we did with Recent
Topics.
This uses the same style as starred messages in order to show the number
of drafts.

We are renaming stream to stream_name in formatted draft object
just to be more explicit and be clear that we are storing that
stream name in this variable.
This commit changes snapshot_message to store stream_id for
drafts along with stream names. The stream_id field is
undefined if draft is for empty or invalid stream name.
After this change:
- If draft has a valid stream_id stored and it maps to
a stream, then we display the stream name from the
obtained stream object.
- If draft.stream_id is undefined or doesn't map to a stream,
then we display the name stored in draft.stream, which can
be invalid (no stream of this name existed ever), can be
empty and can also be name of a deactivated stream.
This change helps us to show correct stream-name for drafts
in case of renaming a stream.
Fixes#15155.
Before this commit, the message or any draft is deleted as soon
as the compose box is closed. So, it removes that by removing
delete_active_drafts and instead this commit will add the deletion
process of drafts in reify_message_id that is called when a
message is successfully sent and received.
Now, see there are two types of messages, one that are locally
echoed and the second ones are that aren't locally echoed but
sent directly to server. This commit only saves the message in
draft if it is locally echoed as they are the only messages
that show message failed in message list. The non locally echoed
ones aren't remove from the compose box until they are
successfully sent. Now as the draft-id is stored in the message
data for locally echoed messages, as they are echoed from the
server, they are deleted using that draft-id.
This also adds node tests for echo reify_message_id for testing
this feature that this commit is adding.
Fixes#17697
This commit renames `delete_draft_after_send` to
`delete_active_draft` for two main reasons:
1) This function does the job of deleting the draft that we
are currently using in compose box and it is independent
of the message sending functionality.
2) This is prep refactoring for new drafts behavior where
we delete the draft if the compose box is cleared and
closed.
Previously, the hook to save drafts when closing the compose box was a
focusout on #compose-textarea. This mostly worked, and was essentially
invisible to users (because the animation to notify you about saved
drafts was in the close_compose_ui widget that is hidden), but you'd
end up seeing the tooltip appear (in the wrong place) if you closed
the compose box immediately after sending a message with Tab+Enter.
The correct fix is for the drafts hook to be just before we start
clearing compose box state, inside hide_box.
This was difficult to catch in a development environment, since one
doesn't use that flow with "Enter sends" enabled.
The old logic, inline in the compose area, has produced a very weird
effect where the buttons would move to fit the notification, ever
since design changes to use the full bottom row space.
We address this by just using a Tippy tooltip instead.
Added a fix to bind vim_up(k) and vim_down(j) keys
with the draft section, allowing users to scroll
between the drafts using 'k' (scroll up) and
'j'(scroll down) keys.

When we select a draft with no stream, topic of
drafts gets disappeared. This commit fixes this bug.
In the restore_draft function of drafts.js, we were
explicitly removing the topic of the draft when the stream is
not set.
This was bit reluctant to me, like why we're removing
the topic when the stream is not set. After discussing this on
the Zulip organization chat, I came to know that all code for
drafts is added in commit 1929cc5190.
And as this is a big commit, this microcode would not have
gotten much scrutiny and might get missed.
So removing this feature is not an issue. Also, it may be a bad
design decision to delete topic when we restore drafts. So we should
remove this feature.
When we select a draft with no topic, we typically got navigated to an
empty narrow, because the topic field was empty. Rather than
navigating to a view that will show "Nothing's been sent here yet!",
we should not navigate at all.
Initially, in the restore_draft function of the drafts.js
we were only checking that stream is empty or not,
now we also check for the topic, and if both are set,
we navigate to related context; otherwise, we don't navigate.
This mainly extracts a new module called
browser_history. It has much fewer dependencies
than hashchange.js, so any modules that just
need the smaller API from browser_history now
have fewer transitive dependencies.
Here are some details:
* Move is_overlay_hash to hash_util.
* Rename hashchange.update_browser_history to
brower_history.update
* Move go_to_location verbatim.
* Remove unused argument for exit_overlay.
* Introduce helper functions:
* old_hash()
* set_hash_before_overlay()
* save_old_hash()
We now have 100% line coverage on the extracted
code.
Instead of prohibiting ‘return undefined’ (#8669), we require that a
function must return an explicit value always or never. This prevents
you from forgetting to return a value in some cases. It will also be
important for TypeScript, which distinguishes between undefined and
void.
