This removes the leading whitespace that was approximately the width of
a space character that would get underlined when hovering over any one
of the global filters.
On stream names that don’t quite fit, we’ll add overflow ellipsis to
them. It appears we already did this on mobile in a sub-optimal way so
we can remove that media query with preference to the new, better
styling.
The arrows were too close to the scrollbars that it would be
difficult to click them sometimes. This moves over the arrows and
unread counts to combat the issue.
The left and right sidebar are now equidistant from the edges of the
center pane, and the contents within have equal margin from the edges
of their containers (5px).
This moves the chevron arrow and the "All Streams" text over 10px
so that it will be inline with the hashes below and not be up
against the edge of the screen in some collapsed modes.
The issue before was that the left sidebar would become too tall for
the screen because the standard header that has “STREAMS” and buttons
is 20px tall, and this one is 30px tall. This makes it much shorter,
changes the text to be the same style as the “STREAMS” text (medium
grey, uppercase text).
The markup is then fixed to be significantly less verbose than before —
changing a list to just a simple link.
This commit is a bit complicated, because we do full redraws of
the topic list frequently, and we don't want to randomly obliterate
our "No more topics found" message, so we need to keep a bit of
extra state around.
While demoing Zulip at PyCon, I learned that it is hard to
distinguish topics from streams in our left sidebar.
Indenting them by a few pixel seems to make it more clear
that topics belong to a stream.
This system hasn't been in active use for several years, and had some
problems with it's design. So it makes sense to just remove it to declutter
the codebase.
Fixes#5655.
- Move the chevron and the message count a bit towards
left.
- Make changes in the position of message count in
global_filters to align it with of message count in
stream_filters.
This fixes the overlapping of stream popover with the
scrollbar in the stream list.
Fixes: #5552.
This commit addresses to issues with the left sidebar:
The cursor flickering when hovering over topics, and
the cursor not becoming a pointer when resting just right
of a topic's name (in a clickable area).
This is a follow-up to #4675.
This restructures the <a> tag to be clickable essentially anywhere
within the <li> tags, unlike before where due to it being “inline”, you
had to hover over the text in particular.
This makes the height of the list-items all 24px and changes
the home icon to be a slightly larger 16px instead of 14px which
looked visually smaller than the other icons.
This fixes an issue with topic names overlapping in the left sidebar.
While we're doing that, it makes sense to shrink the maximum size of
the topic input box, to discourage sending with topics that will be
cut off.
This adds a deep link behind a “+” icon above the streams list on the
left-sidebar which opens the subscriptions page and then also toggles
the tabs to go to the unsubscribed stream list.
Some of the work here was done Tomasz Kolek.
When we click on "more conversations" in "Private Messages,"
we call it being "zoomed in." Before this change, when
new PMs arrived, we would rebuild the list and zoom out
again. Now we track the zoomed_in state with a variable.
Also, if you are zoomed in and switch from one PM narrow
to another, we also keep you zoomed in.
This fix also removes some extraneous/redundant code.
Fixes: #2561
On hover, the transparency of muted stream/topic groups should turn up
to 0.6 so that they are easily readable by people looking to find a
particular stream/topic, but not completely opaque as to be confused
with a non-muted item.
