Since notifications have limited space for the contents of a message,
a quote from a previous message, or elsewhere, can take up most of the
notification, leaving little room for the actual message, and reducing
the usefulness of the notification.
To fix this, we collapse blockquotes and "user said" paragraphs to make
space for the actual message.
Earlier, for the desktop notifications having latex math
like "$$1 \oplus 0 = 1$$, the notification had the math
included multiple times.
This commit fixes the incorrect behavior by replacing
the KaTeX with the raw LaTeX source.
Fixes#25289.
This is a prep commit for introducing new "Show unread counts for" user
display setting. We should use css classes like `.hide` to hide the unread
count from the DOM as opposed to using `$unread_count_span.hide()` because
this injects inline styles and hence we won't be able to change the `display`
style on hovering for unread counts.
Previously, `place_caret_at_end` was only used for HTMLElement with
contenteditable="true", updated it so it takes HTMLElement as
argument and use logic to place cursor at end as per type of
element passed(i.e HTMLElement or HTMLInputElement).
Safari denies user from playing audio without an interactive
trigger like a button by default. So, when user received a
notification in Zulip via Safari, it triggers an error when
trying to play the notification sound.
Our goal for this commit is to simply handle the error.
Ever since we started bundling the app with webpack, there’s been less
and less overlap between our ‘static’ directory (files belonging to
the frontend app) and Django’s interpretation of the ‘static’
directory (files served directly to the web).
Split the app out to its own ‘web’ directory outside of ‘static’, and
remove all the custom collectstatic --ignore rules. This makes it
much clearer what’s actually being served to the web, and what’s being
bundled by webpack. It also shrinks the release tarball by 3%.
