This commit adds a new setting to the user's notification settings that
will change the behaviour of the unread count in the title bar and
desktop application.
When enabled, the title bar will show the count of unread private messages
and mentions. When disabled, the title bar will act as before, showing
the total number of unread messages.
Fixes#1736.
This fixes the mis-alphabetized `fluid_layout_width` at few places in
the codebase, along with that it also fixes sorting order of
`property_types` dictionary in models.py and few model fields of
`UserProfile` model class.
Rename notification property `enable_stream_sounds` to
`enable_stream_audible_notifications` to match with other
notification property patterns.
Fixes part of #12304
This adds a setting to control Zulip's default behavior of sorting to
bottom and graying out inactive streams. The previous logic is still
the default "automatic", but this gives users more control. See the
models.py comment for details.
Fixes#11524.
With perfectScrollbar, we needed to call a function from JavaScript to
enable a scrollbar on a new element, but simplebar has a much simpler
default API one can do by using data-simplebar attributes in the HTML.
So we can delete all the scrollbar creation/deletion code.

We move all of its logic into settings_sections.
Note that this is slightly more than a refactor.
We are slightly more aggressive about resetting
sections. For example, if you go into Settings,
then exit the overlay, then go into Manage
Organization, we will now reset sections for both
groups.
Also, add a new notification sound, "ding". It comes from
https://freesound.org, where the original Zulip notification sound comes
from as well. In the future, new sounds can be added by adding audio
files to the `static/audio/notification_sounds` directory.
Tweaked significantly by tabbott:
* Avoided removing static/audio/zulip.ogg, because that file is
checked for by old versions of the desktop app.
* Added a views check for the sound being valid + tests.
* Added additional tests.
* Restructured the test_events test to be cleaner.
* Removed check_bool_or_string.
* Increased max length of notification_sound.
* Provide available_notification_sounds in events data set if global
notifications settings are requested.
Fixes#8051.
We can eliminate the janky `setup_page` methods
and just pass in section from `hashchanged`.
This sets us up to handle browser history more
nicely when you load '#settings' and we could essentially
redirect you to '#settings/your-account' (or similar
things). A future commit will address that.
We also use `launch` as the new entry point, which
is more consistent with other modules.
This is largely inspired by requests from people not liking the
Google's new emojiset. A lot of people were requesting to revert
back to old blobs emojiset so we are re-enabling this feature
after making relevant infrastructure changes for supporting google's
old blob emojiset and re-adding support for twitter emojiset.
Fixes: #10158.
This adds a feature in the "Notification" section of "Settings" tab,
which lets user enable or disable login emails notification.
Tweaked by tabbott to simplify the test.
Fixes: #5795, progress towards #5854.
Due to copyright issues with potentially displaying Apple emojisets on
non-apple devices, as well as iamcal dropping support for the emojione
emojiset (see https://github.com/iamcal/emoji-data/pull/142), we are
dropping (perhaps temporarily) support for allowing users to switch
emojisets in Zulip.
This commit just hides the feature from the user but leaves most of
the infrastructure in place so that in the future if we decide to
re-enable the support we will not need to redo the infrastructure work
(some JS-side code is deleted, mostly because we'll want to re-add the
feature using the do_settings_change infrastructure anyway).
The most likely emoji set to add is the legacy "blobs" Google emoji
set, since it seems popular with some users.
Tweaked by tabbott to remove some additional JS code and update the
changelog.
Previous commits have fully implemented the logic for stream email
notifications; this final commit adds support for configuring it to
the UI.
Fixes#6511.
This commit prepares the frontend code to be consumed by webpack.
It is a hack: In theory, modules should be declaring and importing the
modules they depend on and the globals they expose directly.
However, that requires significant per-module work, which we don't
really want to block moving our toolchain to webpack on.
So we expose the modules by setting window.varName = varName; as
needed in the js files.
If you toggle between Settings and Organization now, it
will remember where you were the last time (not counting
reload). Likewise if you go in and out of settings.
The old code always put you in the first section, which I
think was an accident of implementation. Of course, we'll
continue to default to the first row if you haven't gone
anywhere else.
The list with the options for normal settings now has
the class normal-settings-list.
The list with the options for org settings now has
the class org-settings-list.
The new markup helps us avoid code like this:
$(".settings-list li:not(.admin)")
We also have funny hacks in our key handlers related
to the old combined-list approach, which we can
eventually eliminate.
This should make it easier for us to iterate on a less-dense Zulip.
We create two classes on body, less_dense_mode and more_dense_mode, so
that it's easy as we refactor to separate the two concepts from things
like colors that are independent.
Now that we have support for displaying custom profile fields, this
adds administrator-level support for creating them.
Tweaked by tabbott to fix a few small bugs and clean up the commit message.
Fixes#1760.
This initializes the bot_creation_policy_values after the page
is loaded.
Previously we initialize these values in `settings.js` when settings page
is loaded at least once, so if we open two tabs, one(1) in which we
haven't opened the settings page yet and if in another tab (2) we
update the `bot_creation_policy` value, then because of the event
which calls `settings_bots.update_bot_permissions_ui` causes exception
in (1) because `bot_creation_policy_values` isn't initialized yet.
Fixes: #8852.
This is a preliminary commit which includes settings' (checkboxes)
label as a context for rendering template.
The reason we did this in JS code because of translation issue when
passed (as a context in `partial` handlebars helper) directly within
template.
Currently this is done for notifications' settings.
(There will be no UI change)
This is the first step in cleaning up the bot edit code.
Since the bot edit form appears dynamically, we remove
it from the static HTML scaffold, of which settings_sidebar
is a part of.
We'll replace this primarily with per-realm quotas (plus the simple
per-file limit of settings.MAX_FILE_UPLOAD_SIZE, 25 MiB by default).
We do want per-user quotas too, but they'll need some more management
apparatus around them so an admin has a practical way to set them
differently for different users. And the error handling in this
existing code is rather confused. Just clear this feature out
entirely for now; then we'll build the per-realm version more cleanly,
and then we can later add back per-realm quotas modelled after that.
The migration to actually remove the field is in a subsequent commit.
Based in part on work by Vishnu Ks (hackerkid).
The first part of this change is to have the "Your bots"
tooltip not lie about creating `.zuliprc`, because it
doesn't put a dot in front of the file.
And then the more significant change here is to make
the "Running a bot" documentation use realistic filepaths,
both in terms of where the download typically puts the file,
and where you want to move it to.
Lets administrators view a list of open(unconfirmed) invitations and
resend or revoke a chosen invitation.
There are a few changes that we can expect for the future:
* It is currently possible to invite an email that you have already
invited, it might make sense to change this behavior.
* Resend currently sends an invite reminder instead of resending the
original invite, this is because 'custom_body' was not stored when
the first invite was sent.
Tweaked in various minor ways, primarily in the backend, by tabbott,
mostly for style consistency with the rest of the codebase.
