We have a bug where we can mark messages as read as a result of a
desktop left open with the Zulip window focused. To avoid it,
we only mark new messages as read if there is some user activity.
Note that we scroll to bring new messages into view which can
mark them as read.
We redesign the message history modal to make it look similar to the
drafts and scheduled messages, using the shared styling/rendering
logic for that those existing elements to have a less goofy widget.
Fixes#28695.
The read receipts option, resides under the triple-dot message actions
menu. This made the process of viewing the read receipts take up
multiple steps, even via a keyboard-driven workflow.
Via this commit, now while focused on any message in a message feed,
and pressing `Shift` + `V`, efficiently brings up the read receipts
for that message.
Fixes part of #24716.

We don't show emoji icon on message on width range even if the
logged in user is not the sender, which causes popover to not
be displayed since the reference is not visible.
To avoid such case in future, we just check if the emoji icon is
visible and if not fallback to the ellipsis icon for reference.
This naming more accurately reflects the functionality of these types
of functions. They are not only responsible for displaying the
popovers but also for toggling them off.
The intent behind this commit is to tidy up how we handle user info
popovers. The first step is to move everything related to them into
its own module. This commit should not have any functional changes.
stream_popover.is_open() much more accurately describes what this
does, and in particular the fact that the function applies to all
places the stream popover might be.
emoji_picker.is_open() much more accurately describes what this does,
and in particular the fact that the function applies to all places the
emoji picker might be.
Keyboard navigation has been added to the scheduled messages modal
in this commit. The solution is based on the `modals_handle_events`
function from the `messages_overlay_ui.js` module, as well as some
helpful functions from the same module.
Fixes: #25181.
This is a preparatory commit to implement keyboard navigation in the
message scheduling modal. The main goal is to make the
`modals_handle_events` function reusable. To achieve this, we have
extracted all the context-related variables and replaced all
mentions of "draft" with the more neutral term "item". The
`modals_handle_events` function now also has a context parameter,
which contains all the necessary methods and properties to work in
different modal contexts.
This function will allow us to adjust the codebase to write what it
means semantically -- whether a check is for the message list being
visibly empty, or completely empty.
In this commit, we leave the .empty() method incorrect, because
several other adjustments need to be made atomically with fixing it.
Earlier, the `s` hotkey just narrowed to the stream of the selected
message (to a topic), while `shift+s` narrowed to the conversation view
(topic / dm) of the selected message.
Now, the `shift+s` hotkey has been removed (but retained for toggling
subscription to a stream when the stream overlay is active), and the `s`
hotkey takes on double duty: if the current view is not topic / dm, it
narrows to that, else when in topic view, it switches to stream view. It
has no effect when in dm view. Documentation has been updated for this
both in the help center, and the in-app `Keyboard shortcuts` menu.
A deprecation notice has been added for `shift+s` as well.
