The old link here broke once we introduced separate APKs per ABI,
in zulip/zulip-mobile#5296.
We could make a direct link to app-armeabi-v7a-release.apk , the one
that's compatible with almost all devices. But perhaps better is to
just go back to linking to the release page, where the user can
choose the best APK for their device. (If they're in the habit of
downloading APKs manually to install on their device, then probably
that means they're going to be used to choosing the right one.)

Prefer a regexp match over using String#replace to strip expected
prefixes and suffixes because (a) it implicitly verifies that the
input has the expected format and (b) it won’t unexpectedly strip from
the middle of the string.

On mobile, when the sidebar is toggled, the following three issues
are encountered:
- When none of the sidebar menus are expanded, the sidebar has no
scrollbar, which is expected. But if you scroll, the background
content scrolls, which is a bug.
- When some of the sidebar menus are expanded such that the content
overflows and is "scrollable", once you get to the end of the
sidebar content, the background content keeps scrolling in a weird
way.
- If the mobile screen is wide enough, if you scroll the sidebar
content, it scrolls as expected. But if you move the pointer to
the side of the background content that is still visible, you
can scroll the background content even though it should be fixed.
This commit fixes all of the above issues.
When one resizes the window and tries to switch to the vertical
sidebar menu, the CSS transition flickers in and out. This is
less than ideal.
This commit implements a solution to this problem. The solution is
inspired by the following helpful article:

As it turns out, anchor links on headings only worked on our /help and
/api pages but were broken everywhere else. This commit adds the
required JS to scroll properly when an anchor link on any of our
various landing pages is clicked. We already have similar code to
accomplish this in help.js.
We verified with console logging, browser Sources inspection, and
checking source files that help.js and landing-page.js are never
included in the same page, but we add comments to make this
architecture clear.
Fixes#19349.
These modern landing pages cover use cases previously not detailed on
our website. Technically, we had a /for/research page before, but it
wasn't finished or linked everywhere.
Removed "function-url-quotes" stylelint rule
since I need to use quotes in url to use an
svg as list bullet point. There are spacing issues
using it as an image. Also, using quotes in url
is actually the recommended way to do it otherwise
there could be issue with escaping.
Leave the Intel build as the prominent default, since it will run on
both platforms. (I would have liked to detect the appropriate
platform, but Apple seems to have put significant effort into making
that impossible for anti-fingerprinting reasons, which is probably an
overall good.)

Due to spaghetti CSS that should be fixed but isn’t fixed here, the
<span> wrapper is still needed so the hover effect is applied.

jQuery’s $(callback) already checks document.readyState to decide
whether to run the callback immediately (that’s like, jQuery’s entire
value proposition). We probably don’t need ready callbacks at all
anymore thanks to <script defer>, but that’s a larger change.

Prettier would do this anyway, but it’s separated out for a more
reviewable diff. Generated by ESLint.

This updates update the download android and ios app button on
/apps/android and /apps/ios routes respectively to use the official
badges provided by the google and apple.
We also clean up some of the JavaScript implementing the page.
Fixes#14061.
This commit was originally automatically generated using `tools/lint
--only=eslint --fix`. It was then modified by tabbott to contain only
changes to a set of files that are unlikely to result in significant
merge conflicts with any open pull request, excluding about 20 files.
His plan is to merge the remaining changes with more precise care,
potentially involving merging parts of conflicting pull requests
before running the `eslint --fix` operation.

For .start-button, Bootstrap carousel already supports <button
data-target> as a valid alternative to <button href>. For
.call-to-action, the margin is decreased to exactly offset the lack of
margin collapsing with display: inline-block. There should be no
visual change.

We were doing the seemingly innocent
.toggle(version_info.show_instructions) to show the instructions if
and only if show_instructions was true. However, our data structures
that should have been false didn't set a value, and `.toggle` with no
arguments just flips the state, rather than unconditionally hiding.
We added custom event handlers on anchor tags to show transitions
when switching between pages, a behaviour we have since removes in
commit a0dacea811.
Our approach didn't respect the target attribute for links and other
defaults that browsers offer with links.
We can now safely remove the event handler and restore the default
behavior of anchor tags.
A selector like `$('.elem1 .elem2:first')` selects the first descendant
with class name `.elem2` under `.elem1`. This is the same as saying
`$('.elem1 .elem2').first()`. See example here:

This allows user to download the latest version of android apk from
the apps/android.
This will help the users who use Android without Google Play to
download the app and install it with ease.
To implement this I added a Download APK link on the apps.html page
which always points to the latest released version.
