The reactions added to messages in the test database are
random in nature, so there is a possibility of any number
of reaction records in the exported user data.
The test now verifies the reaction which was added in the test
itself.
Earlier, the test was assuming the reaction added in the test
is the only record in the exported data.
That would result in a flaky behavior. This commit fixes the
flaky behavior.
When the export is NOT generated by another zulip server,
while importing:
* Set the 'zulip_update_announcements_level' to the latest level
as we don't want to send all the older update messages to them.
* Send a group DM to admins, suggesting them to configure the
stream in order to avoid missing future update messages.
Fixes#29041.
This commit removes name, description, is_system_group and
can_mention_group fields from UserGroup model and rename
them in NamedUserGroup model.
Fixes#29554.
Replaced HUDDLE attribute with DIRECT_MESSAGE_GROUP using VS Code search,
part of a general renaming of the object class.
Fixes part of #28640.

Only affects zulipchat, by being based on the BILLING_ENABLED setting.
The restricted backends in this commit are
- AzureAD - restricted to Standard plan
- SAML - restricted to Plus plan, although it was already practically
restricted due to requiring server-side configuration to be done by us
This restriction is placed upon **enabling** a backend - so
organizations that already have a backend enabled, will continue to be
able to use it. This allows us to make exceptions and enable a backend
for an org manually via the shell, and to grandfather organizations into
keeping the backend they have been relying on.
This leads to significant speedups. In a test, with 100 random unique
event classes, the old code processed a batch of 100 rows (on average
66-ish unique in the batch) in 0.45 seconds. Doing this in a single
query processes the same batch in 0.0076 seconds.
This is preparatory work towards adding a Topic model.
We plan to use the local variable name as 'topic' for
the Topic model objects.
Currently, we use *topic as the local variable name for
topic names.
We rename local variables of the form *topic to *topic_name
so that we don't need to think about type collisions in
individual code paths where we might want to talk about both
Topic objects and strings for the topic name.
This commit creates a RealmAuditlog entry with a new event_type
'RealmAuditLog.REALM_IMPORTED' after the realm is reactivated.
It contains user count data (using realm_user_count_by_role)
stored in extra_data.
This helps to have an accurate user count data for the billing
system if someone tries to signup just after doing an import.
Given that most of the use cases for realms-only code path would
really like to upload audit logs too, and the others would likely
produce a better user experience if they upoaded audit logs, we
should just have a single main code path here i.e.
'send_analytics_to_push_bouncer'.
We still only upload usage statistics according to documented
option, and only from the analytics cron job.
The error handling takes place in 'send_analytics_to_push_bouncer'
itself.
This commit moves constants for system group names to a new
"SystemGroups" class so that we can use these group names
in multiple classes in models.py without worrying about the
order of defining them.
Thisi and the following commit follow the approach used in
3e2ad84bbe.
First migration requires a server restart - after that any new realms
will be created with the columns set.
The following migrations are in the next commit:
Second migration does a backfill for older realms and can run in the
background while the server is operating normally.
Third migration enforces null=False now that all realms have the columns
set.
This commit does the backend changes required for adding a realm
setting based on groups permission model and does the API changes
required for the new setting `Who can create multiuse invite link`.
This tracks user group membership changes when the realm is first set
up, either through an import or not. This happens when we add users to
the system user groups by their roles.
For an imported realm, we do extra handling when the data doesn't include
user groups. This gets audited as well.
This commit removes "@" from name of role-based system groups
since we have added a restricion on having user group names
starting with "@" in the previous commit as they look odd in
mention syntax.
We also add a migration in this commit to update the name of
role-based system groups in existing realms to remove "@"
from the name. This migration also updates the names of
non-system user groups by removing the invalid prefixes
from their names and if there is a group already with that
name, we insted name the group as "group:{group_id}".
Fixes#26148.
Part of splitting creating and editing scheduled messages.
Should be merged with final commit in series. Breaks tests.
Removes `scheduled_message_id` parameter from the create scheduled
message path.
This implements the core of the rewrite described in:
For the backend data model for UserPresence to one that supports much
more efficient queries and is more correct around handling of multiple
clients. The main loss of functionality is that we no longer track
which Client sent presence data (so we will no longer be able to say
using UserPresence "the user was last online on their desktop 15
minutes ago, but was online with their phone 3 minutes ago"). If we
consider that information important for the occasional investigation
query, we have can construct that answer data via UserActivity
already. It's not worth making Presence much more expensive/complex
to support it.
For slim_presence clients, this sends the same data format we sent
before, albeit with less complexity involved in constructing it. Note
that we at present will always send both last_active_time and
last_connected_time; we may revisit that in the future.
This commit doesn't include the finalizing migration, which drops the
UserPresenceOld table.
The way to deploy is to start the backfill migration with the server
down and then start the server *without* the user_presence queue worker,
to let the migration finish without having new data interfering with it.
Once the migration is done, the queue worker can be started, leading to
the presence data catching up to the current state as the queue worker
goes over the queued up events and updating the UserPresence table.

This commit refactors 'set_user_topic_visibility_policy_in_database'
to perform bulk database operations and the related changes.
There is an increase in database query count because requests
to delete user_topic rows now take two queries instead of one.
This is required for logging the info for a request to delete
a non-existent user_topic row while performing bulk operations
at the same time.
The overall query count will be lower while performing
bulk operations (multiple user_profiles instead of one).
This commit adds code to create a "Nobody" system user group
to realms which will be used in settings to represent "Nobody"
option.
We also add a migration to add this group to existing realms.
This commit is a step in the direction of having a common
function to handle visibility_policy changes and event
generation instead of separate functions for each
visibility policy.
In order to support different types of topic visibility policies,
this renames 'do_topic_mute' to 'do_set_user_topic_visibility_policy'
and refactors it to accept a parameter 'visibility_policy'.
The "add_topic_mute" and "remove_topic_mute" library functions
shouldn't be called directly from tests.
They should instead call "do_mute_topic" and "do_unmute_topic"
The reason being:
Library functions are meant to be internal interfaces
for just changing the database, and shouldn't generally be
called elsewhere.
Black 23 enforces some slightly more specific rules about empty line
counts and redundant parenthesis removal, but the result is still
compatible with Black 22.
(This does not actually upgrade our Python environment to Black 23
yet.)

Enforcing a consistent `type` helps us double-check that we're not
playing fast-and-loose with any file paths for local files. As noted
in the comment, this is purely for defense-in-depth.
Passing `write_local_file` a consistent `type` requires removing the
"avatars" out of `realm_avatar_and_logo_path` -- which makes it
consistent across upload backends.
This, in turn, requires a compensatory change to zerver.lib.export, to
be explicit that the realm icons are exported from the avatars
directory. This clarity is likely an improvement.
