This works simimlar to the "n" key for next topics.
This commit does a few things:
* It wires up the hotkey to an existing function
that could change narrows.
* It adds documentation.
* It adds logic to make sure the compose box does
not open.
@showell helped a bit with the wording of comments here.
Fixes#4874
We made this change because users often unnecessarily click "Home"
first in their use of Zulip, because it seems appealing. While "All
messages" isn't quite precise (it doesn't include muted streams), it
does describe relatively simply the interleaved view that this
represents.
This commit leaves everything as "home" in the code, and only changes
user-visible strings and docs. Changing the code will be a big project;
there are hundreds of relevant occurrences in variable names, etc.
Further, we'll probably want to convert those various variable names
in different ways.
Tweaked by tabbott to extend the commit message and update a few comments.
On a standard keyboard, 'q' is to the left of 'w', so it makes sense
for the hotkeys for the left and right sidebars to be `q` and `w`,
respectively, not the other way around.
These are some strings I spotted in English when playing around a bit
with the UI set to German, where our translations are near complete.
It'd be great to have a more systematic way of spotting this kind of
omission. Probably a fairly simple linter could catch a lot of cases.
This focuses the body content of the informational overlay after
going to it from "?" so that you can use up and down arrows to then
scroll the content easily.
Fixes: #4480.
* 'd' in message view opens drafts.
This also adds hotkeys within the drafts UI:
* Up/down arrow keys navigate the drafts.
* Pressing enter edits the selected draft.
* Pressing backspace deletes the selected draft.
Some variable names tweaked by tabbott.
This replaces the bootstrap default modal footers that have a
[data-dismiss] button with an .exit button in the top section of the
overlay that is styled congruently to the current subscriptions page.
Assigns hotkey 'w' to search streams.
Only show search box when active. Activate with hotkey or by clicking
STREAMS.
Filter matches at the beginning of words in stream name.
Behaviour is otherwise almost identical to user search.
Casper tests.
This results in a substantial performance improvement for all of
Zulip's backend templates.
Changes in templates:
- Change `block.super` to `super()`.
- Remove `load` tag because Jinja2 doesn't support it.
- Use `minified_js()|safe` instead of `{% minified_js %}`.
- Use `compressed_css()|safe` instead of `{% compressed_css %}`.
- `forloop.first` -> `loop.first`.
- Use `{{ csrf_input }}` instead of `{% csrf_token %}`.
- Use `{# ... #}` instead of `{% comment %}`.
- Use `url()` instead of `{% url %}`.
- Use `_()` instead of `{% trans %}` because in Jinja `trans` is a block tag.
- Use `{% trans %}` instead of `{% blocktrans %}`.
- Use `{% raw %}` instead of `{% verbatim %}`.
Changes in tools:
- Check for `trans` block in `check-templates` instead of `blocktrans`
Changes in backend:
- Create custom `render_to_response` function which takes `request` objects
instead of `RequestContext` object. There are two reasons to do this:
1. `RequestContext` is not compatible with Jinja2
2. `RequestContext` in `render_to_response` is deprecated.
- Add Jinja2 related support files in zproject/jinja2 directory. It
includes a custom backend and a template renderer, compressors for js
and css and Jinja2 environment handler.
- Enable `slugify` and `pluralize` filters in Jinja2 environment.
Fixes#620.
In order to enable internationalization support in Zulip, and to use
Django internationalization tools, all strings in Zulip frontend needs
to be marked for translation.
Adding one row to the Navigation table made the
Keyboard shortcuts dialog look ridiculous, and it
was caused by a design based around float-left-ing
that broke down when the size of the "Navigation" box
was bigger than the "Composing messages" box.
Now we use a div to enclose the top two boxes in
the modal.

This doesn't actually prevent a user from making the API call into our
servers to actually go and edit a message, so this isn't a bulletproof
solution for realms where messages ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT be edited.

This needs to be deployed to both staging and prod at the same
off-peak time (and the schema migration run).
At the time it is deployed, we need to make a few changes directly in
the database:
(1) UPDATE django_content_type set app_label='zerver' where app_label='zephyr';
(2) UPDATE south_migrationhistory set app_name='zerver' where app_name='zephyr';
