This was added by commit 7f174213ed, and
appears to have been designed for responses that are *successful* but
falsy. Logically, these should not implicitly represent a failure to
be retried if it were.
Note from tabbott: The background is that this idempotent retry loop
was a hacky workaround for a bug we never understood but saw daily in
production. Especially during server restarts / client reloads,
something would result in 200 responses with no data being seen by the
frontend, despite the Django server not having received/processed the
request. Fortunately, this strange failure mode appears to have
stopped happening in late 2019, so we can delete this hack.

When the user chose to send the composebox message on pressing ctrl +
enter instead of just enter, it only worked in writing mode but not in
the preview mode.
This change makes ctrl + enter send the message even in preview mode,
when that setting is chosen.

I'm not sure whether the bug this fixes was a regression resulting
from d6d3683da0, or an old bug, but
focusing the compose box is not sufficient to end preview mode; we
should be calling the function that's explicitly for that.
Till now, switching back to writing mode after preview mode, needed
the user to first focus on the `Write` (unpreview) button by tabbing
to it (if using keyboard) and then select it.
To make things easier, especially when using keyboard, now the `Write`
button will be automatically focused on entering preview mode, so
going back to writing mode only needs one 'Enter` keystroke.
When switching back to writing mode after preview mode, the composebox
would be out of focus and so the the cursor would semingly get lost.
Now on clearing the preview mode, the composebox is focused and so the
cursor is seen blinking at it's original position.
In compose box, the "x" button tooltip text changed to
"Cancel compose and save draft" except when unsent
message length is short(<3).
Also in help(?) > keyboard shortcuts, text for `Esc`
changed to "Cancel compose and save draft".
The help center page updated with the above changes.

Originally, DEFAULT_NOTIFICATION_STREAM_NAME was set to
"announce" and we also showed warning in frontend when
user was composing message to "announce" stream and if
the stream had more than 60 subscribers.
But we changed DEFAULT_NOTIFICATION_STREAM_NAME to "general"
in d46b125bf2. That commit did not remove the frontend code
for showing warning and this commit removes it since there
is no "announce" stream by default now, and we would not
want to show warning when sending to "general" since that
stream could be used for many discussions and it would not
be nice experience to show warning everytime.
This'll be shown only when in a different narrow from what
you're composing to.
Takes care of updating display of the button on moving from
one narrow to another and also on changing inputs. This is
what contributes to majority of js code in this commit.
We are not displaying this for private messages since we do not
have a consistent design for both stream and private compose areas.

Moved the `update_fade` function to this.
This is a preparatory commit to add a feature to go to the
narrow you're composing to where we want to update the
button visibility when the recipients changes. The update could be
run in the function this commit adds.
The name for a BigBlueButton meeting is now generated from the stream
name and topic name.
The createTime option is used to have the user redirected to a link
that is only valid for this meeting.
Even if the same link in Zulip is used again, a new createTime
parameter will be created, as the Meeting on the BigBlueButton server
has to be recreated.

Previously, we did not clear the resolved topic warning when reopening
the compose box after sending a emssage. This was a latent bug before
the previous commit, since the resolve topic was always displayed when
the compose box was pointed at a resolved topic before the previous
commit.
The resolve topic warning can feel like clutter in the event that the
compose box is empty (which often occurs when the user has no intent
to send a message), so we configure the validation logic to only
display the notice when the compose box is non-empty.
We take some care to minimize work the function is doing, beacuse it
is called on every keystroke in the compose box.

This simplifies some of our dependencies.
As an example, we really don't want compose.js
to depend on stream_subscribers_ui.js, since
the former doesn't use any actual UI code from
the latter.
We also rename the two functions here:
invite_user_to_stream -> add_user_ids_to_stream
remove_user_from_stream -> remove_user_id_from_stream
(The notion of "inviting" somebody to a stream is
somewhat misleading, since there is really no invitation
mechanism; you just add them.)
Apart from naming changes this is a verbatim code move.
Finally, we eliminate a little bit of test cruft--the
`override` helper already ensures that a function gets
called at least once during a test.
Show/hide scroll to bottom button when the last message is
not visible in the current scroll position.
We adjust the bottom offset of the button based on compose box
height.

Autosize library can miss resize of compose-textarea when
compose is collapsed / expanded while preview box is displayed
and compose-textarea is hidden. So, we force a autosize.update
of compose-textarea, when user exits markdown preview, to ensure
that the textarea is of correct size.

Instead of blindly adjusting `compose-textarea` on resize,
we adjust the height of `compose-textarea` or `preview_message_area`
based on which is visible.
This commit creates the function warn_if_topic_resolved that checks if
the topic to which the user is composing is resolved or not. First it
checks if the stream exists and then if the topic name starts with the
RESOLVED_TOPIC_PREFIX. If the conditions are true, a warning banner is
shown to the user.
It also shows to the user a button to unresolve the topic, if he has
the permission to do so.

This effectively reverts part of
70d444a8eb. While it's correct that we
want to render this bit of Handlebars template early, it was not
correct to move all compose box initialization earlier.
Do the same thing we do with the left/right sidebar container
templates, which is to render them directly in `ui_init.js`.

This is a fairly straightforward extraction.
It's good to test this with Iago, and then go into
Manage Streams and add/remove subscribers for a stream
like devel.
I copy/pasted two small functions that will soon
diverge from stream_edit. The get_stream_id function
will either use a module variable (since we're
generally only editing subscribers for one stream, and
we already have the singleton assumption with
`input_pill`) or a more strict CSS selector. And then
get_sub_for_target depends on get_stream_id. We may not
always need full subs, anyway, and when we adapt some
of this code for creating streams, things are likely to
change.
I stopped exporting a couple functions that have no
callers outside of this module.
The main entry point for the module is
enable_subscriber_management.
We continue to export invite_user_to_stream and
remove_user_from_stream, which should possibly be just
pulled into their own module to lessen some
dependencies, but they don't have too much baggage,
since they just wrap channel calls.
Since we don't use video button in compose control buttons
popover, this will never be reached. We can add this code again
when we add video button to the popvoer.
We don't hide popover on click for formatting buttons, emoji picker and time
picker.
Emoji and time picker popovers need a reference to be displayed,
hence we don't hide them.
Not hiding formatting buttons is based on past discussion.
The current instance of compose popover is stored locally
so that we can access it across different modules.
The basic approach for hiding / displaying a button is based on
width and is executed at `sm` breakpoint as per our
`css_variables.js`.
Used handlebars and `hide/show-sm` css class to make this
work. This avoids using too much JS to hide/display elements.
`Press Enter to send` used to hide `Send` button, we remove that
behaviour.
We show the current state of `Enter` hotkey action via text below
`Send` button which can toggle behaviour on click.
This is a very frequently requested feature for organizations that are
new to Markdown, that brings Zulip's UI more in line with that of
competing projects and other markdown editors like the GitHub UI.
`calendarContainer` is defined for flatpickr instance if it is
open.
This also fixes a bug where the flatpickr doesn't open when
user tries to toggle it using the global time icon in compose.
Previously, after sending a message from the full-sized compose-box,
the compose-box remained in expanded state covering the entire middle
part. Instead, it should return to the original state after the
message is sent.
There's a subtle race that would cause the "Scroll down to see your
message" compose notification to appear incorrectly, because the
full-size compose box occluded the entire message feed at the time the
message was locally echoed, even though it would no longer do so after
collapsing.
We address that by shrinking the compose box immediately before doing
a local echo, in addition to the primary code path in
`clear_compose_box`. Care is taken to ensure that we avoid shrinking
the compose box when sending a message that cannot be locally echoed
and gets an error from the server.
Tested on my Ubuntu development environment, by sending empty message,
valid message and slash commands. The compose-box only shrunk on
sending valid messages.
Fixes part of #19353.
Before this commit, the message or any draft is deleted as soon
as the compose box is closed. So, it removes that by removing
delete_active_drafts and instead this commit will add the deletion
process of drafts in reify_message_id that is called when a
message is successfully sent and received.
Now, see there are two types of messages, one that are locally
echoed and the second ones are that aren't locally echoed but
sent directly to server. This commit only saves the message in
draft if it is locally echoed as they are the only messages
that show message failed in message list. The non locally echoed
ones aren't remove from the compose box until they are
successfully sent. Now as the draft-id is stored in the message
data for locally echoed messages, as they are echoed from the
server, they are deleted using that draft-id.
This also adds node tests for echo reify_message_id for testing
this feature that this commit is adding.

This commit makes the compose.update_fade as an exported
function and adds the listener to update the fade manually
as deleting the pill was not calling this functions.

This commit moves the warn_if_private_stream_is_linked,
needs_subscribe_warning, and warn_if_mentioning_unsubscribed_user
to compose_validate.js from compose.js.
These warning functions are very naturally part of the compose box
validation system, though they're a bit different in being called from
the typeahead codebase.
Part of splitting compose.js into more natural modules.
We improved it in the following ways:
* Show the error message with the maximum character
limit.
* Disable the send button.
* When the user tries to send the message via hotkeys
i.e, When "Press enter to send" is enabled or the user
uses "Shift" + "Enter" shortcut, Flash the red border
around the compose box.
Also renamed `check_and_set_overflow_text` to
`check_overflow_text` for better clarity.
This bug was found when the user tries to send a
over character limit message, i.e It has failed the
validation but it still shows the "Sending..." text.
We use subs as a common variable name for a collection of stream
data structure used in settings, in lot of modules. So this
rename clears a bunch of related shadowed variables.
This commit makes a working toggler in compose_actions that adds the
compose-fullscreen class to the compose that removes the max-height
from the compose textarea and adds flex elements above so that the
height automatically adjust with the device height. This results in
making the compose box full screen sized.
The compose_height.js maintains the state of the height of the compose
box. Also, when the compose box is closed, the compose box is reset to
it's default behaviour and original height. So, everytime user need
not toggle off the compose full size and only for specific message
it is used.
It also adds destroy autosize on compose_height state change.
It destroys the autosize of textarea when the full
screen sized compose box is toggled on. And everytime when it is
turned off, it reinitialises the autosize. This also adds a
condition in autosize_textarea to only autosize when composebox
is not in full height state.

Fix a bug where the compose box cut the message without warning the user
the message pasted was longer than the allowed. It was fixed by stopping
cutting the message off and showing an indicator whenever the limit exceeds
and removing the indicator as soon as message gets less than that.
The cut off for showing the indicator is set as 90% of the limit.
