These instructions apply to Atlassian Cloud's hosted Jira, and Jira Server version
5.2 or greater. For older installs, you'll need our [Jira plugin](./jira-plugin).

webhooks/jira: Update docs to conform to style guide. I spend a lot of time on this. One of our users had reported that this webhook wasn't working at all. So I tested this with a local ngrok instance and made sure that it was working. I also took this opportunity to rewrite the docs for this, which were quite outdated. With a few changes by Rishi Gupta!

markdown: Rewrite include plugin without markdown-include. markdown-include is GPL licensed. Also, rewrite it as a block processor, so that it works correctly inside indented blocks. Signed-off-by: Anders Kaseorg <anders@zulip.com>

1. Go to your Jira **Site administration** page. Click **Jira** on the left.
webhooks/jira: Update docs to conform to style guide. I spend a lot of time on this. One of our users had reported that this webhook wasn't working at all. So I tested this with a local ngrok instance and made sure that it was working. I also took this opportunity to rewrite the docs for this, which were quite outdated. With a few changes by Rishi Gupta!

On the left sidebar, scroll down, and under **Advanced**, click **WebHooks**.
Click **+ Create a WebHook**.

1. Set **Name** to a name of your choice, such as `Zulip`. Set **Status** to
**Enabled**, and set **URL** to the URL constructed above. Select the events
you'd like to be notified about, and click **Create**. We
webhooks/jira: Update webhook to support improved comment events. Atlassian announced that it will no longer provide information about comments along with their "issue" type event payloads for Jira. So we must now update the Jira integration to appropriately respond to "comment" type events (the reason why we didn't do this before was that initially, the "comment" type event payloads didn't contain sufficient information about their issues, but this payload has since been improved). Note: This commit does *not* remove support for the older "issue" type event payloads where information about comments was included. This way we can maintain compatibility with old self-hosted versions of self hosted Jira (2016 and before). webhooks/jira: Ignore comment_created message. comment_created payloads may not contain the required issue data to format a useful notification, therefore, it is better to handle issue comments through issue_updated events (which we already do). Fixes: #11995.
